To put a more positive comment on this thread, I have to say the part throttle growl is better than any other car I have driven. How is that impacted by the downpipes?

And our GTS's do not have resonators, just primary and secondary cats.

Hate to think Vic could be wrong but the secondary units are not technically catalytic converters but simply resonators with media inside.
There is no platinum in those units therefore there are no "catalyst" which is probably why there are no O2 sensors before and after them to monitor their efficiency because they have no effect on emmission

In my opinion, this is great news. I have not had a CEL since they have been chopped of and I am achieving a meaner bark and louder sound just like the downpipes for just a few bucks .
And this can easily be reverted back to stock for resale purposes.
back to the OP thread, I luv my car

I think technically you might be right... I just know that my tech at Benzworks and at Weistec called them cats (first and second). I guess someone could source the part # to see what the factory says. The guys on the M177 boards say cats as well so it was a presumptive statement.

Mine burned oil worse than a john deer two stroke riding mower! Is that a compromise? I don't care if the thing is loud as **** and shifts hard. Modern car can't burn a quart per 800 miles.

Honestly dude, it's time to move on. We get it, you had a problem, you weren't happy. I'v been silent about this but seriously man you need to move on.

Love love love my GTS. Traded in a Carrera 4S. The GTS handles better, sounds better, feels better inside. It shifts better. I love it. It's true there is no back seat. I wasn't looking for a minivan.

Seriously, you must have some other interests than going on and on and on and on about your experience with your GT-S. Everyone on this forum has seen you relentless posting about it. Find something else to post about. There must be something that would make you happy. My GT-S makes me happy, but so do other things. Perhaps you could find some Zen in something else and move onto better things.

also everytime i buy a 100k dollar car I know there is a chance that it will have serious engine problems, it will be under warranty, but i wont have time to **** with it. if this happens i know my only recourse is to trade it in! yes, ill lose 20k, but when I buy the replacement car they will probably hook me up and know 10k+ off the new car. the point is don't try and play big boy games and hobbies unless youre ready.
it sounds like you got your money back. be happy. move on.

Best in ~$150K range
My first car was 2010 Porsche Cayman S - great mid engine machine and enjoyed a lot.
GTS is my second car and compared to 911S & 4S (991.2), and F-type R before eventually ending up GTS.
I think that GTS is still the best in $150K class in terms of wow factor, fun, posture, handling, exhaust sound and even boot size (holding two golf bags)!!!
Recently I test drived DB11 (well.. over $200K range car), but GTS was better in almost every aspect, except qualtiy of interior material and brand image.
Now I'm considering to move up to AMG GTR and I'm pretty sure GTR will be very competitive in $200K range.

Dude, you have absolutely no perspective about cars. I try to spend at least half my driving time in a Jeep so I can appreciate the GTS. Otherwise I get used to how incredible it really is. If you eat at 5 star restaurants every day, appreciation dwindles to nothing. P-nut butter sandwiches 6 days a week, and a 5 star restaurant on Saturday is the good life.

My first car was a Buick Electra 225. Seatbelts for 6. 5mpg in town. 390HP. $600. I took it up to 110 MPH once and could barely keep it on a straight road. My second car was a step van. Honda Civic, VW Golf, Chrysler Reliant (Still mad at Chrysler after 20 years), Toyota Pickup, Toyota Landcruiser, and then a steady stream of BMWs (including race cars) and gradually nicer cars with the 911 leading up to the GTS.
Thanks for your interesting history

Unfortunately, I have no time to enjoy driving weekdays due to work (and commute using subway)
So, for me, GTS (and also was Cayman S) is a toy for spending nice weekend and holidays.

Well, couldn't agree more. I prefer $10 pizza to $100 steak when watching a ball game. But definitely will go fo the other way around when I have a date.

Wow, that's even better. The GTS is -way- better than a subway, depending on traffic I suppose.

You have to go way down the list to find MB.

Not sure what to make of this discussion - If this has any significance than we should all buy and drive Kia (no. 6) or Hyundai (no.12)..
I did a quick search on Autotrader for 2016. There are over 530 911 for sale and over 300 AMG GT for sale - Does this mean that people do not want to buy 911s? Of course not - all these raw numbers and statistics are meaningless.
I still don't have my GTC but have owned P and MB - both had minor issues. MB service was far better and in my experience MB's reliability was better even though CR has Porsche as No. 2 on their "list"

Agreed!!
If you look at the numbers carefully you will see that over time the numbers of 2016 GTS are declining.
The number of 2017's are primarily made up of GT cars with a lower number of GTS.
My sense is that MB is loading the market with their new entry level GT and the remaining number of 2017 GTS are normal new inventory.
Supply chain and customer demand should normalize over that next couple of months.
GTR-- Rumor has it that the initial US GTR launch will be in late April-May and Canada will be in August. No news on the Europe or Asia markets yet.
