Trying out the Mclaren 570GT
so i'm getting bored with my GTS even though it has been rock solid and a sexy muscle car. i've bought a Mclaren 570GT!
it is the first Mclaren i have thought looked good, and of course the performance is there as well.
if i had one complaint about the GTS, it would be that it doesn't feel as special as an exotic, even though i saw only 2 more in my town. the mercedes brand actually cheapens the car a little and makes it feel less special.
that complaint is purely emotional and the car was a stunning performer. i will post how it compares to Mclaren in the next few days.

Awesome!! Great upgrade..More money and diff class to the AMG GTS for sure, but great $/performance,look!
I am wondering, is it really no discount from Mclaren dealer on 570? Unlike MB dealers, easy to get a deal on GT, Mclaren dealers say no discount at all...
Anyway, congrats!

Like you said in an extensive thread a year ago ... the gts is no more than a c63S in a different body, I'm surprised you actually bought the car
congrats on the new ride

brand new should get at least 5k off if not more
dealer demos 20k off but they have 1000 or more miles and are used
used on market low miles 1 year old easily 25k
good luck shopping!

The 570S or GT is an amazing car and performer in its class... I am considering one just based on what Ive read and heard from friends who own one. And its in a very competitive price point vs the likes of the Turbo S, V10+, and cheaper than the Lambo.
Please post pics.

if i didn't i wouldve kept my 2013 458 spider which i paid nearly 350k for lol! i doubt i will ever do that again cars just aren't worth that much money to me unless it's like a speciale aperta or other limited production... but even then i wouldn't drive them daily so it kinda defeats the purpose.
i drive all my cars and yes i lose a money on them too... better than the strip club!

i briefly had a 2016 huracan spyder and it was a beast and i could tell the sharpness of the NA engine vs my turbo AMG GTS, but the spyder was super tight inside because of the roof mechanism and i am only 5'10 190 pounds!
some complaints about the huracan... the windshield is almost completely flat and feels kinda cheap like an old army jeep, the AWD creaks and skips on tires on tight turning maneuvers especially if the lift is up, and of course the 2 inches less legroom due to spyder roof. rear camera really was bad resolution. huracan was the lowest car i've driven so the lift is essential.
but it was razor sharp in throttle response and it wailed and screamed better than my 458 spider, on the road it handled beautifully with magneride, probably would have kept it if it wasn't so damn tight on the inside!

Congrats on the 570GT and give us some pics and feedback when you can.
I do believe that it is the best bargain at that price range as it is a real exotic yet hopefully can be a daily driver as well. The tune definitely shows that it is just software management on horsepower. Why buy a 650 if you can get a tuned 570 to do the same...
Did you lease or buy? I know the AMG depreciation is bad but McLaren is even worse by just looking at the used market.

Im sure you will say this but the 570S is probably a more functional car than the Huracan = practical (if thats even a discussion between these two cars LOL).

so put about 100 miles on city and highway
interior and exterior fit and finish top notch, better than huracan and on par with ferrari 458/cali for sure. i read some people thought it was cheap in the 570s but the GT has leather for days and it is glorious. the digital display is clean and crisp i actually prefer it to the huracan display it seems more thought out and i like the apple-like minimalistic designs and icons. the iris panel on center is more boring but works fast enough once you get the hang of it, took me all of 20 min to be an expert. the backup camera is way better than huracan and about the same quality as 458. AMG has similar fit/finish but some plastic in the hatch and roof, but the camera/ipad display were way better.
getting in and out is similar to the huracan but totally manageable, i tried the MP12c and that was a nightmare so the lower sills are a blessing, and comfort access automatically backs seat and steering wheel out so you have maximum clearance. the doors are simply beautiful and effortless to open/close, i have no idea what people are complaining about taking too much effort. i don't slam them but even with a normal close it doesn't trigger the soft-close function
the gas pedal throttle does feel mushy compared to Huracan or 458 and slightly more mushy than the GTS. you have to push further down to get that power but after a while you do so and it's pretty lively. same is true for the brake pedal travel, you have to push further to engage properly and for a dead stop it does take more effort than what i am used to. best way i can describe it is i could drive my other cars with my big toe pushing, but in the Mclaren you need to use the whole front of the foot.
does feel laggy under 3000rpms unless you mash pedal from the start and there is turbo kick for sure much more than the AMG, and when it hits it feels more powerful even though both cars have similar torque
turbo sound is very prevalent, spooling up and down, the whine, it's not bad sounds very futuristic. the AMG i couldn't even hear the turbos, and this probably has to do with the engine placement. mine doesn't have sport exhaust so it sounds ok from outside, but it's not the low menacing rumble of the AMG it's more medium sounding. sounds like huracan without sport exhaust at idle. ferrari noises are louder and higher pitched whine. no cracks or burbles no overruns i guess Mclaren doesn't approve of wasted fuel lol!
handling/suspension i feel very similar to both 458 and huracan and slightly better than AMG in comfort mode, sport mode is about the same as AMG comfort, and track mode is like AMG sport handling... there is nothing as bone jarring as AMG race mode. the front lip height is higher than huracan and is about the same as 458, and the lift system works slowly about 10s but it works. the car maneuvers fine at low speeds tight turning parking which is a win over the huracan skipping AWD.
steering feels light to me even at higher speeds but it isn't wobbly at all. i would say it's more sharp than the AMG and little less than the 458/huracan. AMG had a heavier feel all around at low and high speeds.
that's all for now i'll add more as it comes to me
for sure it's a better car than the huracan and just different from the AMG but it feels more special, the driving position, the mid-engine, the doors, and i like the looks! it does remind me of the first few days in my 458 spider believe it or not! i'm very happy with my choice so far.

Thanks for the pics and OEM "scissor" doors always look so cool on any car as they are true exotics.
Would you mind expanding on driving position and cockpit view when driving. Is it more like the 458/huracan or more like the 911? That is one downside on the AMG, the long nose looks cool but it makes it a tougher to maneuver the car.

Thats funny Nacelle.... I love all performance cars and greatly respect Maclaren. But that 570 just looks a little weird to me. It looks maybe too gentle, or happy, or quirky or something.
