Remote starter for Mercedes with Smartkey

Ok to just cut through the hub bub of this thread to what's important
I am a new MBZ owner and Viper security systems have been repeatedly recommended to me by other MBZ owners. When combined with remote start it seems a complete security feature set. When you add the bells and whistles of turning on the heat, defrosters etc. it seems like just what the doctor ordered. As others have said I have no interest in who shot John, Sally or Ned. I just need you guys to break this down for me so I can make a decision. Please answer these three questions:
1) How does the system described in this thread differ, if at all, from the Viper systems in the link below for a MBZ, like my 2002 CLK55 AMG with Smartkey? Is it as simple as the system offered in this thread uses the OEM MBZ Smartkey fob and basically, no disrespect intended to anyone's engineeering or product design work, adds modules to the OEM system to give the owner the remote start and other capabilities?
http://www.viper.com/CompareSystems/...4V,5704V,5204V
2)Whatever the differences between the system offered in this thread and the Viper systems listed above, is the system offered here made for the W208 model?
3) How much is the system offered in this thread being sold for and is there installation and warranty support offered?
For me it comes down to this, the Viper systems (no affiliation) are tested and a very known commodity in the MBZ world. I would venture to say that there are thousands of them installed and living happily in MBZ vehicles. There is a large installer base and they know exactly what it takes to install these and get them to play well with MBZs. I am unclear that the same can be said of the product offered in this thread, again no disrespect intended. My sense from this thread, and it is only that, my sense, is that the installation and trouble shooting of this product is still very much in its early or experimental days. I am not much into experimenting with security systems.
That said, I really do not want to have to carry around two key fobs and if the system offered in this thread has all of the capabilities of the Viper systems, packed somehow into the OEM key fob, with a good history in the MBZ community of product and user support and is offered for the W208 body style and features, then the system in this thread bears a good hard look. Thanks in advance and I await your reply.

Help with smartstart app
I recently got installed the Smartkey Starter through a professional installer, along with the smartstart from Viper. My question is: Does your smartstart functions such as Lock, Unlock and Trunk works? Whenever I hit does buttons on the app it freezes the app and nothing happens.
Any help?
Thanks

MBWorld Fanatic!
Any error codes on the app? It can be numerous things such as the app, the placement of the viper smartstart, the way they wired it, I can't see it being the remote start.

1- Does Mid City offer this system for W208, specifically 2002 CLK55 AMG?
2- If so, will this system work with my current smartkey?
3- How much will it cost?
Thanks in advance and sorry to folks who don't like to see old threads revived but since this was never answered the questions didn't go away.

Never got an answer to any of these three questions. Now that I have been through a snowy winter here without remote start I really would like to get a resolution of this.

Our product is the Smartkey Starter®. It is a standalone remote start system for Mercedes vehicles. If you have a Mercedes vehicle built within the last 10 years (besides sprinter) you have a Smartkey, which is Mercedes' name for their combined key/remote.

haven't been here in a long time, not sure if this is the right section to ask but here it goes.
i just got a sks211 for my B class with out a panic button, any one know how to program it so it starts by lock/unlock/lock?
i emailed mid city a couple of times with no response.
the authorized dealer that sold it to me won't help either.
thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for the instructions, i will give it a try.
I got the unit for $800
Just tried it.
Insert the key in the ignition switch and cycle it (5) five times from off to accessory (only one click in the clockwise direction) and back to off.
The lights will flash once.
lights will not flash
Any idea???

Flashing confirms that you are in programming mode. You should see one flash.

no flashing at all from the car lights , the only action i get is both red led light up inside the module.
if i leave it alone left led blinks, when i lock the car both red leds light up and go out.
as i cycle the key 5 times both leds stay lid up.
this is on a 2010 B200 (canadian specs)

We would be happy to look into the issue further if you would like to arrange your vehicle to stay at our facility for ~1 week.

Thanks Eric, i contacted Mid city by email and they said the same thing, but i am in Toronto impossible to take my car there, its just disappointing that the module says right on it that will work on B class w245, and there are issues with it, which means was not tested properly, something i would expect from a $100 unit, not $800. In a case like this customers should be aware that there might be compatibility problems.
