Just bought a 2007 ML320 CDI. It does not have the Communication System nor an ipod adapter installed.

If I want to use my iphone using the Communication System, what parts do I need to install to make it work ?

Look at the following illustration.

You need the phone electronics to support the connector (called MHI) in the top of the console.

Once you have that you can either install the bluetooth "puck" shown at right or get a cradle for your iPhone.

The cradle, incidentally, works just like the puck if you don't insert the phone, but if you do you get charging plus use of car's antenna.

As far as the phone electronics goes, the dealer told me that it is not possible to install this at MB - they only install this at the factory for new cars. Could any audio car place do this job ? Any recommendations on where to get the phone electronics ?

I bet "not possible" is code for don't want to. Especially when they have to tell you the price! Couldn't do it where I live without going out of state, but you could check a second Mercedes dealer.

Contact MbenzNL, Steve, who works there has performed some miracles in the past that dealers said was not possibe to do.
