Question Phone installation - Linear Compensator ?

I acquired the electronics and cables necessary for installing a MB StarTec phone in my 2000 E320. Everything seems to be fitting together nicely but the linear compensator (part #: SLN3811D/Q6820368) that was included doesn't match the part numbers (Q6820525/Q6829525) in MB's installation service bulletin. In fact, the linear compensator has an RJ45 plug on it that doesn't have a matching connector (see attached picture). Does anyone know what this might be for? Will this linear compensator work with my StarTec phone? I've also included the part numbers for the other componets that I acquired. Thanks.

StarTec Phone - Motorola ST 7790I "Digital I" TDMA (SWF0035DB / Q6829528)
Cell Phone Cradle (SYN8008A / 9299)
Phone Cable (SKN4974A / 99336/86514)
DB24 Splitter Cable (SKN4943A / Q6820389)
Fiber Optic Y Cable (SKN4960A / Q6820432)
P.S.E. (SYN0234B / Q6820460)
Antenna cable Splitter / Booster (Q6820430)

The linear compensator should have an antenna in and antenna out. Also a green plug should fit into the side for power of the compensator.

Here's what your linear compensator should look like

Since you're doing a Startac installation, if you want to be free of Mercedes branded phones, you might also want to check the forum for the following string: https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=Skylaw

There is also a tech publication that brings together a large number of forum post information at http://www.benzworld.org/publications/pub.asp?id=317; if the forum name is blocked out, it is b e n z w o r l d.org, without the spaces. If the URL won't work from this forum, go to the other forum and do a search on my screen name (same as here).

The linear compensator you need looks like this (but without the blue tape around the edge)

Does the plug that powers the compensator and the antenna splitter/booster feed off of the DB25 cable that plugs into PSE module? The cable that was supplied with my components is basically a DB25 "Y" splitter which plugs into the pre-wired DB25 connector and then feeds both to the PSE and the compensator.

If you'll go to Paul H. D ic k's website, a link I provided in the publication referenced above, you'll find a telephone bulletin for your model and year car. It has wiring diagrams and illustrations as well as part numbers, and is the bulletin the installers use to put in the phone option after the car arrives in the U.S. It should answer many questions for you.

See http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm
