p0016 and engine noise b200 turbo

Hello,

I haven't used my car for a day and suddenly this morning engines started making noise when I fired it up. ODB2 shows p0016. I tried to go back and forth on the driveway and it works, but the noise is quite there!

Can someone explain me what am I facing? Do i need to do a full revamp of the engine? is it the timing chain? oil pump? or a sudden misalignment of the camshaft... The car has 190k km and never had an engine failure. I'd say it is very comfortable to drive this car despite the mileage.

Is is safe to drive it to my garage? Can someone attach some picture of b200T engine, so I can show my mechanic?

Will the repair cost me more that the value of my car?

Appreciate your help!

Mercedes B200 Turbo 2008
Hi,

I have got the exact same problem two days ago, I was little panic and immediately went to the mechanic, he looked at and told the oil level is too low, I don't know since when I was driving with minimum level. He topped up and still no use, the noise is coming..

the noise is like grinding nice with half a second gap between each time...

Let me know if anyone faced the same kind of problem..

Had to change the engine. One day the car would just stop running. I didn't opened the engine, but you could tell by how the spark plug was destroyed that things were misaligned inside.

I coudn't tell if using my car was dangerous, but wouldn't recommend to anyone to use their with p0016 code.

What is the P0016 code?

You are using proper fuel and oil?

Maybe timing was off? Did the chain skip?

This code means the camshaft is reporting out of position. Need to find the cause quickly as if the camshaft is out of alignment then serious damage can occur. The fix maybe as simple as top up the oil, so get it checked out.

Kind regards,
Jock
