c250 with C350 exhaust completed....v1

I finally got around to installing the exhaust today. I am really happy with the end results. For those needing a background story, read this thread -> https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-c...aust-c250.html

Basically I didn't want the look of a c63 with quad exhaust tips so I decided to make the c250 rear-end look like a c350.

Parts are:
- c350 coupe rear bumper trim/diffuser part #A204 885 38 38
- RTP Stainless Steel Resonated Oval tips x2 4.75x3.25 2.25 inlet
- Magnaflow 1-in-2 out Oval High flow muffler
- Custom Mandrel bend Stainless Steel straight pipes 2.25

I will post sound clips and my full impression of the exhaust tomorrow or over the weekend. I didn't get a chance to drive much today after the exhaust was installed. Meanwhile...

Very nice end result, you now have beautiful symmetry to the rear of the car which is missing from all single outlet tip exhaust set up vehicles like our C250's and hence why alot of people are wanting to do something about it, yours looks good also because the tips are not the same as a C350 so it's unique a similar end result to what I,m also looking for

For mine I'm still trying to decide between a dual or quad set up, the quad if I go that way will use a Brabus system and modified C350 diffusor so it too like yourself will look totally different to a C63, a dual will use oval tips of different size and type like the above to those of a C350 so again it'll be unique and not look exactly like another models exhaust.

Do you have any side on pics ? would much like to see what the tip ends look like in side profile TIA.

Looks great! I don't understand why they didn't release it like this. The A and B class have an exhaust like that for the smaller engines...

Looks very sublte and classy. Good job!

~ were you able to retain the stock muffler/system as a re-bolt on? is it louder than stock?

From the looks of it, doesnt seem like there is a heat shield. I'm also wondering if we need it for sure or not.

It's marketing thing, as you move up the range manufacturers try to incorporate more to justify the extra cost, so adding an extra tip makes it look better and worth more, but as you said eventually extra things get added on anyway like most vehicles these days have dual exhaust outlets to make the vehicles look better, certainly would been great if MB incorporated it on all their model series earlier not just the future brand new releases.

Not all of them especially 4 or 6cyl engines are a are proper dual exhaust anyway, it's usually a transverse mounted single end muffler with dual oulets and then they can put dual or quad tips on that, it's not a bad thing either to have only one end muffler as especially with 4 cyl engines you can end up with a not so good sounding exhaust note with a proper dual set up.

No heat shield there but IMO it's a good idea to put it in, I've got one for the RH side ready to go on mine as soon as I go ahead with the exhaust upgrade

More Pics

The weather was bad so I was unable to take more pictures until today. I also have a sound clip for you guys.

My impression? The exhaust is a lot deeper sounding, no raspy noise at all. I turned the BMS tune up to 100% and let's say my butt dyno thinks the car is faster. I love the sound and the fact that its not noisy. I already got compliments from my friends and one guy at the grocery store with a C250. He was wondering did I have some sort of sport package option LOL. Anyway, pics below...

There were no heat shields after the resonater. I can check again but I didn't see any for either side. Just for the middle then the heatshield stopped.

I retained the full stock exhaust system from the first resonator, just unbolted from the Cat to the back. It will be really easy for me to just re-install the stock exhaust when I am ready to give back the car. Also, it makes it easier for me to sell my custom setup to another c250 owner

I purchased mine from my MB dealer - I'll get the pt. no. for you tonight - hopefully it's the same universally as I'm in Australia

Thanks for sharing more pics, it looks very, very nice better looking than the stock OEM C350 set up - well done again

Thanks!!! The c250 should have came stock like this.

Looks like it's definitely there just above the original end muffler, it's an odd shaped thing, I'll try take some pics of it tonight and yes agree it should've come stock like that

Here's a couple of pics of the rear heat shield for the opposite side, ie. right hand side looking at the vehicle from behind, it's what I'll be using on mine as I'll have both rear mufflers in place with a dual or quad set up, the rear mufflers get very hot, so the heat shield's a good idea

Part No. A 204 682 84 71 - as said hopefully that's a universal part number.

I just checked underneath my car again and there is a heatshield that protected the OEM left-rear muffler from heating the undercarriage of the car. One thing I noticed is that the heat shields are for the mufflers and resonators to keep the heat from reaching cabin or burning the undercarriage of the car. Since i removed my OEM rear left muffler, there is no need for the heat shield as the stainless steel piping to my exhaust tips do not get as hot as the mufflers/resonators. If you plan on keeping the mufflers or adding mufflers to the i.e. OEM setup, then I definitely recommend the heatshield. You can see from my pictures above that the one Magnaflow muffler and resonator are protected by the OEM heatshield in the center and the rest are just straight pipes.

AV1- I can't wait to see what your setup will look like

Those aren't Benz tips are they? I like them a lot. With the sort of tip within a tip look it looks nice and full. Very tough. Dual looks really good. Someone just needs to make a good diffuser to go with them now. The quads get all the attention...

Good question...I will check with my shop early this week and find out. I have had a lot people ask me and I feel like idiot for not asking the shop to give me the details. I let one my good mechanic friends just throw on a magnaflow muffler that he thought look good. His shop carries the magnaflow mufflers in stock so I didn't have to order anything.

Total cost for me was $900 I know it sounds a little expensive however, I made sure my shop used all Stainless Steel Parts. If I used non-stainless steel parts I would have saved $400.

So for the lucky person that wants to buy my high quality exhaust in January-Feb 2014 (lease return) you will be very happy.
