In Glass antenna subject again - (FM, FOB)
I have read numerous posts on FOB key and radio reception problems due to blown antenna amplifier integrated into the rear window . I now also have this problem which was caused by me due to my ignorance by removing the rear hatch window tint using a steamer.
----I was able to restore my FM reception by installing a fender mounted antenna and just plugging in to one of the two antenna lines located and easily accessible just in front of the sam unit in the left rear fender ( the antenna lines are clearly visible once you remove the first aid kit) . I assume that one antenna line runs to the radio and the other must be dedicated to the remote key operation.
---- I have also tried connecting the fender mounted antenna to the other antenna line in hopes that my FOB key functions would work again but no cigar.
----- MY QUESTION -- can an external antenna be used to pick up the remote key function signals. I would assume that it would most likely have to be a certain length in order to pick up the key frequency.
