2015 Mercedes C220 CDI Coupe
Stuck in P..

As per my recent intro thread, we/I got a C220 CDI Coupe about three weeks ago. We picked it up with delivery (250) miles on it, so it's essentially a new car and I like it, BUT...

It's randomly getting stuck in P. Lifting the gear lever cover and pressing the manual release button succeeds in getting it out of Park, so that works as a get home measure.

Last week after booking it in for inspection, the car worked flawlessly which included about 500 miles of mixed motoring.

Yesterday as per the booking, it went into the local main dealer (where we bought the car) and they ran a diagnostic, updated the gearbox software and were unable to find or replicate the fault. We drove it home without any problems.

Today it's stuck in Park again. This is pretty annoying to say the least.

Could anyone shed some light on this one please?

Update:

Contacted Mobilo and they sent a technician out to diagnose the car on the drive while it was still stuck in Park. He connected a Bosch KTS 540 system to the car and was unable to to find any fault codes, neither was he able to perform some magic to release the gear shift.

I read one thread for a W203 that seemed to have a faulty ESM. Unfortunately, until a fault is recorded, it's unclear whether this is the problem with our car.

Bottom line is that the car goes back into the dealer tomorrow for further work, which hopefully will resolve this annoying problem.

Hmm..

Anyway, any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.

I would offer the following for your consideration:

1. Things generally work out for the best.

2. Crown Royal on the rocks.

3. Perform a random act of kindness.

In a few days - when the sun comes up - so will your spirits.

best, ez.........

Well, I'm sure that your suggestions may be good for my karma, so thanks for that. Though I must say I was hoping for some more technical insights into the gear selection issue.

Update: The main dealer was unable to find a fault, but changed the brake switch just in case that was the cause. Picked the car up today, hopefully sorted now.
