So has anyone actually removed these themselves?

I just tried to remove the unit but it wont pry out.. may just have to spray in while it's intact and in the car like everybody else.

mine were replaced under warranty and was able to get the guy who did it.

he told me you take the back of the seat and then pull the head rest out and that will dispose the screws holding the handle.

don't try to pry it, you will brake it.
I hope this helps

The entire back? or what you can see in the picture that has been removed? What's required in removing the head rest?

Edit; after removing the two screws to take the back panel off of the seat.. I can't see anything relating the the handles. It's obscured by a bracket and foam. As for the headrest, not sure how to take that out...

I suppose I'll just spray them on the car.
