Wiper not parking correctly after replacing wiper motor

I had to replace the wiper motor due to a stipped gear in the old one.
Anyway, I bought a new wiper linkage as well and thought I had installed it correctly.

I tested it before bolting the assembly down and it appeared to be parking correctly. When I put the pivot arm and wiper blade back on, it sits too low on the windshield. It actually touches the hood.

Does anyone know the solution? Anyone have pictures or a tutorial of how to get the linkage on in the proper manner? Thanks

I was browsing another forum and a guy was having the same problem after replacing the wiper motor. Turns out it was his wiper transmission.

Could there be other causes? Want to make sure before I buy a transmission. I found one for $150 from a salvage yard. No way am I going to pay the dealer $428 for one

Ahhhh My wiper motor took a crap earlier today since is raining here in Los Angeles. dang. Won't drive it since it won't budge. I heard it may be a nut that came loose on the motor, I'm going to inspect it on Monday since it's rainy and I park outside on the street. We'll I hope it's just that.

There is a 50% chance that the nut holding the linkage to the wiper motor backed off. If that is the case, be sure to put some blue locktite on it before you tighten it.

In my case, the motor was bad. I ordered a bilstein from autopartswarehouse.com for $95 shipped.

BTW, I finally figured out why the wiper was not parking correctly. When you tighten the two nuts holding the linkage to the motor and transmission, be sure you have the two referance marks lined up before your torque the nuts down.

It was the nut that fell off. Anyway I put a new nut and adjusted it. On friday will take it apart and lube it up since it's still getting stuck in the middle. See how that goes. Any other issues known before I lube it up. Kind of lazy of searching ;/

If I were you, I'd take the motor plate off and look at the plastic gear to see if it is starting to get worn.

Before my wipers stopped working, they began to stick in the 12 o'clock position like yours. I took the wiper cowl off and sprayed white lithium grease on the transmission, but that did not help. A few weeks later, I heard a snap as the gear stripped, leaving the wiper parked vertically.

Does anyone have a picture tutorial how to do this? I had the same issue with my wiper motor...all of the sudden the blade stopped moving. I do hear the motor moving. I am hoping there is a chance the locking nut came loose.

Thanks in advance!

1999 c280 blade sticking in the middle of the windshield

My wiper motor was trashed so I replaced the motor and remounted the assembly. The motor is working fine, but the blade stops in the middle of the windshield. Is there an adjustment that will free it?

You need to re lubricate the mechanism and piston. It's what happened to mine. I did it last year, hell I even replace the motor thinking that would help but to no avail. So I took off the cover on the windshield wiper, cleaned off the old lube and added the new grease lube to it. I tested it with the cover off and turned it on. Then I applied more where the lube couldn't reach when it was still and hasn't failed so far. Try that, I swear they made a thread about it, if always been an issue with this type of wiped arm mechanism.
