Very durable vinyl. Go look at a bench seat in a 1985 Ford F150, that's vinyl. Ours is much more leather-like.

MBTex

MBTex is just like pure virgin naugahyde. That was a comedy spoof back in the 70's, maybe before your time?

I have/had MB Tex on three W123 that are/were 19 years old now (I still have one) all with over 200,000 miles. Yes the drivers seat is worn in places, and yes the passenger seat dosn't look new, but the back seat is still almost new looking. MBTex dosn't have the smell of MB leather (my kids say the new MB's with leather smell like raw fish), but at least the old MBTex shure does last.

Mine has it too, and I have to say, it has such a leathery feel to it that I thought it was when I first got the car. It wasn't until closer inspection that I realized it was a vinyl-like material. I like it, though, cause my car seats show very little wear.

It's like vinyl on steroids. As the point has already been made, this stuff lasts! It is way better than any vinyl that you see on typical cars. It takes alot more use and abuse and stands up to UV rays much better than traditional vinyl.

It lasts as long or longer than most leathers and it doesn't scratch as easy. Plus it's a breeze to clean w/ most cleaners.

MB Tex is a better more durable material that does not wrinkle as leather would do. It is also easier to clean, and looks great!

I have MB-Tex in my W202 and am loving it so far.
