Smile idle problem

hi guys again thanks for all the great advice you offer!
my 1995 c220 has just over 100,000 miles on it. i have replaced the wire harness in the engine compartment, the maf sensor and spark plugs. the car ran fine after that and gets good gas mileage (25 miles city). the car is running great except when she is idling - fluctuates between 700 and 1000 rpms in park or when in drive. any advice would be much appreciated

Check the air pump. Located at the front of the engine on the left (drivers side) close to the frame.
It could be dirt, or a bad ground etc.
Get a decent mechanic who knows Mercedes. It is a 5 minute job to check, and 10 minutes to clean if necessary.
It is a DIY job, but you really need what to look for.

had the codes checked at auto zone and they said it is showing a bad oxygen sensor - could that cause a rough idle?

Yes it can....It can also throw off your gas mileage, The sensor can force more fuel (or less) to the engine, and therefore the change in RPM's.
