High pitch noise from climate control

I am getting a high pitch noise from what seems to be my climate control. I thought it was coming from my speakers but after checking everything with the sound system seems more like something with the climate control. It happens when the engine turns on and mostly when I accelerate. The noise goes away though when I turn the climate control on, does anyone have an idea as to what is causing this problem?

I had a similar problem with mine, but it went away when I turned the system completely off. There's a tiny fan for the automatic climate control in the overhead unit (with the map lights). Look at the front, passenger side - there's a tiny "vented" area. The little fan is in there - it can be replaced, but the part is pretty expensive (I saw it for ~$70 on eBay). I simply disconnected mine, as I don't really use the automatic temp control anyway. Problem gone.

Btw, mine sounded like a frying electrical type of sound, like a wire shorting out.
