C200 Manual transmission problems
A transmission oil analysis on my 1997 C200 manual revealed the following:
The oil in use appears to be an ATF. A microscopic particle examination of
particles filtered from the oil revealed a moderate concentration of very small
brass/bronze fine wear particles. Check for abnormal thrust washer wear.
Check gearchange operation and clutch adjustment. Check correct oil level
is being maintained. Check magnetic drain plug for abnormal wear particles.
Wear metal contamination made the oil unfit for further use.
I assume that I will have to strip the box to check for thrust washer wear.
Gearchange operation is not what it should be, so will have to check the adjustments.
How do I adjust the hydraulic clutch on this vehicle?
