air injection pump
does anybody know where i can get a new air injection pump for a really good price. Also how hard is it to put in? I know it is on the lower front of the engine on the passenger side.

You can find them on Ebay (about $200.00), or just a general Internet search.
The prices are stupid, but they can be fixed fairly easily.
Here is a link discussing it https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...-pump-fix.html
Look at the link as a generic guide.
I had a check engine light last week, and it was the pump.
The mechanic I use fixed in a matter of 15 minutes (Mercedes mechanic but not a dealer)
This is the part I love, and this is what I had serviced and the cost.
Repair secondary air pump. Rad flush and refill with distilled water and new anti freeze. Replace brake fluid (Normal annual maintenance) Drain and replace power steering fluid. Oil change (I supplied the filter and oil) Air filter. Inspect all brake pads, Replace fuel filter (I supplied the filter) Full engine diagnoses.
Cost $330.00
If you have, or can find a good non dealer Mercedes mechanic, he should be able to fix it.

just to be sure, the engine will make a high pitched whining sort of sound when it starts up, it stops after a minute or two, sounds kinda like a hi pitched hair dryer or somthing, engine temp is a little bit above normal if im just sitting there while the car is running but when driving at constant speed temp is perfectly normal.....

That's the noise it makes....
As far a Pelican Parts are concerned, they are a sponsor on the site, and appreciated for their goodwill, and a good chance to get business.
Searching the internet showed around $200.00 for the pump. and lots of re-manufactured ones available.
From your description, you probably don't need one.

Are we talking a rad problem now? The air pump that was discussed was related to the pollution control.
If the car is overheating, what does the temp gauge say?
2 things you can do.
Do a complete rad flush , and check the thermostat.
You can drop down a few degrees on the thermostat, but do the rad first.

Basically, yes... The pump pushes air into the exhaust so the catalytic converter can burn more pollution. If it's faulty, then the computer doesn't recognize it, then more raw fuel will be passed through the exhaust.
Anyway, that is how I understand it.
No check engine light? What is you gas mileage at the moment (around town, and highway?)

i am getting anywhere from 90 to 100 miles on my first quarter tank then my second quarter i get 50 if im lucky, even though i have a slightly heavy foot at times i still got better mileage when i first got the car, im getting 190 to 200 miles outta three quarters of a tank, i always fill up when i get to a quarter tank.

Are you checking your trip odometer to calculate the MPG?
I am now getting about 25 MPH around town. On a reasonably long highway trip, I have gotten 35 to 36 MPG. If your close to a station, fill it up around 100 miles and check the gallons to see what your actual mileage is. It's a bit tricky, as no fill up is exactly the same as the last, but it should be close.

yeah i use my trip odometer, i feel like it isnt getting the mpg it should be getting, if it gets worse im gonna check with my mechanic, i also work with a guy who might be able to tell me some more about the issue, if it is the air pump then i know what i'm gonna be doing next paycheck

If it's the air pump, don't get too excited. They can easily be repaired. The problem in the US, Canada etc, is the mechanics and shops prefer to change parts, not fix them. They make money on the part, and charge about the same for labor if they fixed it.
My check engine came on twice in 2 years, and both times it was the pump. My mechanic had it fixed in about 20 minutes.

if it is the air pump i might do it myself, depending how hard it is to hook it up to the power source, my mechanic would even do it if i bought the part myself. plus he doesn't charge too much for labor compared to other shops. i mainly use them to do the jobs i don't feel like messing with or don't know how to do them. another question, i'm debating on whether or not to get a performance air intake, i have been looking around but there don't seem to be a lot of options, also do electric superchargers work?

The power source is readily available from where you disconnect it. Just extend a couple of wires from the plug. Best when the engine is cold.
Best to do it from the car so the output power is coordinated to the part properly.
As far as the other "goodies" are concerned, there are a lot of promises from KN filters, but it is unlikely it will glue you to the seat from any improvement.
Look at the resale value of the car, and why invest in something that isn't worth the $$$ even if it's available. Drive it for what it is, as it doesn't get much better anyway.
Money down the drain,,,,,,,

yeah, i'm probably not gonna sell it anyway, at most i might do a cold air intake, maybe boost my gas mileage and help the engine breathe, its not fast but its nimble which is what i love about the c class, and for a four cylinder its still pretty good, my mom just got a 2009 altima with the 2.5 inline 4 and even though it has more power it doesnt feel nearly as fast.

I am totally happy with the performance, but off the line it's no screamer.
Once rolling, it's got more get up and go than most 4 cylinder cars with automatic trans.
But then again, I'm an old fart, and that part of my life has long since gone by :-(
