Antenna Problem - motor does not go

My 1996 C280 has a Hirshmann retracting antenna. Lately it will not go up, or sometimes not go back down.
When this happens, the motor is not running at all. I try to engage the antenna going up, and then listen to see if the motor is running, and it is not.

It could be an intermittent failure of the motor, or a problem in the wiring such that the motor is not turned on.

Any thoughts ? Thanks

Is this the style? Check the ground first, and the 2 connectors for corrosion. Other than that simple test, you may need another one.

I will have to take out the trunk liner and have a look. Sure would be nice if it was a loose ground.

Just be sure you take out the ground screw and really give it a good cleaning, and the surface it attaches to.
Good luck

Right now we're having a heat wave, and I am not getting out there to do anything. Happy to say, it's been working just fine. Goes up as soon as I push the on button on the radio, and down when I turn off the ignition.

Makes me think this is just a minor connector issue. Once it cools down here, I'll pursue that.
