Mercedes Benz c230 Kompressor as a first car?
hey everyone,
Im looking to buy my first used car very soon as I need it to get to work (internship). I've looked around and been told to buy the usual civic or corolla but honestly Ive never liked either of em regardless of their "godlike" reliability.
I've set my sights on the 1999 c230 kompressor or 2005/2006 c230 compressor. I understand that this an MB forum, but would you guys recommend either of these models for purchase as a first car? Most of the models that I've seen range from about 100,000 Kms to about 180,000 Kms. The higher number leans towards the 1999 model while the lower number leans towards the 2005/2006 model.
If you guys can think of any other alternatives please do recommend.
Thanks
adi
P.S I was initially comparing the MB's to the e39 540i and infiniti g35x.

I'd recommend you to get a 2005 C230 Kompressor. You need to go to a different forum W203 (for 2000?-2005) C230s. Try to get a low-mileage Kompressor. It's a great car. My wife has a 2005 C230 Kompressor and it runs beautifully.
I don't recommend you to get a 2006 and 2007 C230 (with a V-6 engine) because of shaft gear problems and it'll be very expensive to replace shaft gear. The gear is made of soft metal (manufacturing made mistakes in making them) and the teeth will be worn out after (around) 75,000-90,000 miles.
2005 (and older) Kompressors are four cylinder supercharged engine. It has the power similar to V-6 engine. 30 MPG on highway. I think you'll be happy with a Kompressor car.
