How heavy is steering supposed to be?
I have a 1994 C220 with 92k miles on it; I've had it since 2011/43k miles. It's my daily driver, but I didn't drive it regularly the past three years because I've been at law school.
In in the last few weeks, I've started to notice that the steering feels pretty darn heavy. It's been so gradual that I don't remember if it was always this way, or if it's getting heavier. Occasionally, if I turn the wheel all the way to the right or left, I hear a very faint, but perceptible, squeaking/squealing noise.
Does the W202 just have really heavy steering, or do I need to look into this?

Have you checked the tire pressure recently? It can have an adverse effect on the heaviness feel if it gets low. Second easiest thing to check would be the hydraulic fluid level. Perhaps there is a leak in the system.
