IPod wired into C320

I recently bought a 2001 C320 w/o a cd changer. This is my first post here, and I tried to search the topic before posting. I read the long thread about wiring Ipods through a pre-existing wire hidden in the door. That thread seemed to indicate this wasn't an option for me.
Then searching the web, I found this quote:

I owned my car — a Mercedes C320 with a glove box CD changer — nearly a year before stumbling onto its audio input jack inside the glove box, as well as the AUX setting on the car stereo, which allowed me to hear the iPod through the car's speakers when it was plugged into the jack.
I have no AUX button and want to know for sure if I can use the cd changer slot somehow to operate my Ipod or not.

Thanks

i believe the aux is not a button, rather an option selected by holding down a particular button for a few seconds. Not sure, fairly new to these forums, just got a c320.

I have a C230 and hold the CDC button down for a few seconds. The display will show "AUX". Do the same to go back to cd changer mode. Not sure if C320s work the same. Post a new thread and see if others reply.

it would help if both of you listed on your Member Profile the following:

- your location (US models vs rest-of-world models differ greatly, and helps people answer your questions precisely)
- your car's Model Year 01-05 (some things on 05 models didn't exist on 04, or completely different electronic interface)
- C320 or C230K is not enough, also specify: COUPE or SEDAN, and even further:
Sport model, luxury, 4-matic, manual, auto, etc....

if you quote someone, just because they have a C320, doesn't tell anyone anything. What year, coupe or sedan, US or not US, etc....

if you've searched and couldn't find an answer, then having these things stated up front, will make it easier for people to answer your questions.

yes, this should do it! look in the glovebox on the right side for an aux jack. if you don't see it there, open up the front passenger door sill and see if there is a cable there with nothing connected to it. that is the aux cable.

Co-Man-D

Co: C-ckpit
Man: Management and
D: Data System

comand is navigation and radio and cd changer and phone

It works like this: you select a location from the Points of Interest or enter a street address and the car will tell you how to get there by audio and video communications.

See the images below

Any update on when this will be? July, perhaps? All the dealers act coy and/or play dumb when I ask.

I hate to burst your bubble, but this just looks like a cassette adapter with the wire concealed...it provides adequate sound for cars with a cassette player, but offer no other integration.

To be honest, I have no clue how it was done, but the sound quality is excellent! All I know is that the tape deck is no longer functional because the AUX input (mini jack in the space below the head unit) has been wired to replace it. I know that he put a blank tape in the tape deck (not any type of cassette adapter) so that the "tape" button would activate the aux-in.

Ok, seems like more than just the basic tape adapter. From outward appearances though...

I used the tape adapter in my last car for a few months..it sounded TERRIFIC. Near CD quality. Only thing missing was control.

I believe right now it is only available for the M-class cars. I estimate that my car will require service A by October and by then, the dealer should be able to do the iPod integration.
