Shift Boot?

I need a new shift boot for my 2001 automatic and call the Stealership to see how much one would cost and they told me that I would not be able to buy just the shift boot by itself, because it came only with the ****. Is this true? I know the **** is removable so why couldn't they sell it separately? Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks

Your dealership is correct - they do not sell any part of the assembly separately. Your best bet would be to go to a junkyard; otherwise, you'd spend $400 about. Or, get an aftermarket boot for $50; all you'd have to do is do a little gluing and cutting, but hard to look completely OEM.

Just order a shifter from Steve (MBenzNL). He sells shifters for a very good price.

got this one for my C320 Sport Coupé from another MBWorld member for $50
brand new still sealed in the bag... the boot is the leather skirt around the **** (or lever, as referred to in the UK).

probably going to get one of the 2005 sport shift ****/lever boot combo
for the C320 Sport Sedan.

They sell the whole thing, shifter, shift boot and gear indicator.
