Down-firing LED's in rearview mirror, like VW/AUDI?
Has anyone seen the red LED's in the bottom of the rearview mirrors in the Passat or A4 (I assume other VW models have them too)? They illuminate the center dash console buttons with a soft glow of red. Anyone seen this done in a W203? I guess the trick would be to position the LED in such a way in the bottom of the mirror housing as to illuminate the center dash, but not be reflected in the front windshield. It seems, as I recall, that the W203's rearview mirror is positioned further away from the front windshield than the VW/AUDI. Maybe I should put the LED in the black plastic housing that covers the sensors in front of the mirror? Suggestions/ideas?
thanks

Please post PIX, instructions, diagrams, anagrams whatever! I have wanted this feature for years now! Ever since I saw it on a 5 series Bimmer.
BTW: Bimmer uses an amber LED - so that it matches the gauges better.
Thanks!

Sorry Skids... we're all looking for 'full time', orange, dim, directed/flood type led. This application is used in airplanes, ships, many many places. It basically washes the control surfaces with a dim yet dark-friendly light color so that one can see the buttons.

DSMIT, do you know if ...
DSMIT, do you know if the rearview mirror of the '02 C240 (I have C2 package if it makes a difference) is interchangeable with that of the '02 E320?
thanks!
