Magnaflow on my 05 C230K SS

. . . with resonator (glass packed).

I had to add a resonator because it was too loud for my taste and the sound in the cabin was too loud. Cost me $180.00 including the resonator. Performance wise, it pulls better not a whole lot but better. Sound clip later. . .

This is the same muffler I used on my old W202.

looks like an AMG exhaust from the rear.

did the glass packed res take out the cabin sound by a lot? which exact one did you get?

so i had it put back in.

$50 to take out resonator
$70 to put in muffler
$20 to put resonator back in

is it just me or is the muffler a little crooked?
from the first pic, looks like the right tip is lower...
i dont know...maybe its just me

Good EYE! It is but not a lot. I'm actually going back next week to get it adjusted.

The resonator (glass packed) helped a lot. At first they put a Magnaflow resonator and it didn't help much so they tried a glass packed resonator and it helped. I'll try to get the brand of that resonator.

Also, when I started this project, I noticed that my 05 C230K SS didn't have a resonator only a huge OEM muffler with a single tip. So when they installed the muffler it was so loud (for me) that's when we experimented with the resonators. Overall, I'm happy with it until I decide to get maybe a Supersport or Supersprint exhaust. My next mod will be a C55 Spoiler & front spoiler lip. Thanks for the comments guys!

Shorter lug bolts 29mm full tread & 5mm H&R spacers for the rear. I could probably go for 10mm spacers. These are OEM SL wheels. Of course, smaller tires: 225/40/18 & 255/35/18.

I only have one resonator (glass packed). They took out the magnaflow resonator because it didn't make a difference in the cabin sound. I was suprised to see that 05 C230Komp didn't have resonators, only one big muffler.

everyone asks about your wheels. the SL wheels look fantastic. I was hoping the VMR wheel group buy would work out soon. then you might be willing the sell those SL wheels

a couple Q's:
where did you get the magnaflow? it was $180 installed? looks great.

also, how low did the H&R springs drop the front of your '05 from the standard sport springs?

Any muffler shop can get it for you.

Question: Should I paint the muffler flat black or leave it silver? It was chrome before but it was ruined when I had them cut one of the tips because I want one of them shorter than the other like an OEM AMG tips.

it might look good with the muffler black, just make sure to use a paint that will hold up to the high temps.

+1 on the muffler being painted black, i did that with mine from the day i did my rear diffuser. looks so much cleaner jus seeing the tips.

does painting the muffler black only look good on a black car? cuz im curious if it'd look equally as good on my silver car, not a fan of seeing the big muffler lol
