Custom mid-pipe or deleted resonator? HELP!

I have an 06 C230 and i'm looking to do some exhaust work to it but am not sure what I want to do. Took the car to a friends performance shop and he gave me a few options:

A) New Midpipe - 2.5inch pipe all the way from under the hood to the resonator. deleting any cats in the way :P. This will be a bolt-on piece so I will still have my stock piping if i ever need it.

-- Questions - Will I gain/lose any power this way? Don't know much about backpressure and all that jazz but I'm thinking that may be affected here.

B) Chop out my resonator and replace it with a piece of pipe (cheaper waY)

I am mainly looking for the deep aggressive sound but nothing too loud or ricey. I'm curious if anyone with the 2.5L has done either one of these mods and how it sounds?

If i was you i would delete your resonator and replace your stock muffler with a magnaflow muffler. Thats what i had before i went quad and it sounded amazing. It wasnt ricey sounding at all, it was deep and throaty. I have videos somewhere, but even another member with a C55 with resonator delete and secondary cat delete heard it and was amazed at the sound my little V6 produced lol

And it doesnt cost too much, very parts, labor, and everything it was about $150-160 (through my stock tip).

There is noticeable drone in the cabin, but IMO it was definitely bearable.

Can you point me to the videos you have or any pics? Also i'd like to see your quad setup if you have pics of that too.

**Also, what kind of magnaflow muffler did you use? They have several i'm not sure which would be the best one to go with.

If it was me, I would do the resonator delete, in fact that is what I am going to do to my 07. Anymore than that, and I think you risk droning and too much noise transmission into an otherwise VERY quiet and comfortable cabin. Guess I am getting old My 1991 Nissan Sentra is RIDICULOUSLY loud, so I appreciate the quiet of the Benz.

I have the res delete with a magnaflow like Timmy said and there is cabin drone but I just turn up my music to equal it out haha. Nice throaty sound as stated above.

A Car
Get the res delete. Still quiet and comfortable when cruising but is noticably deeper/louder at WOT or when your on the gas, otherwise its calm like a Benz.

+1 on that, stock exhaust with the res delete is a great sound, quiet when rolling and driving slow, deep and loud at WOT, best of both worlds

remus is way hevier, i dont know if thats a concern on your behalf. i like to watch my weight , lol. ill be actually redoing my exhaust soon with headers, magnaflow bullet/round mufflers, that will be seated midway ( about rear seat location ) and then a straight pipe to the end with same tip.

The reason I went with remus is I didn't want it to be too loud and it has a unique sound to it but now I want it to be very loud. I know what you mean the Remus muffler is pretty heavy. I might do quads and remove resonator then maybe It might get a little louder.

Thanks Tim, ya i'm gonna come to Irvine this weekend (sunday) so i'll see you and hear you there

C240
Here's my magnaflow+resonator delete. On the c240, the resonator delete did some small sound changes around 900rpm 2600k rpm.. under load, only. When I put the magnaflow on, 2500rpm to 3000rpm was crazy loud under load, along with the end of my rpm band.

Damn, I'm going to have to hit both meets this weekend to ask everyone what exhaust I should be doing. LMAo.
So far, sounds like res-delete and muffler are the way to go.

For sure!

For your V6's though, be careful with your 230K, it s so easy to tturn tem into ricers with exhaust lol

Actually, it's easier to make the V6s sound ricey. The 4s have a longer stroke than bore, so it will have a better tone.
