well the g35 will get up and spank our coupe into the ground as far as power goes. it will also accelerate extremely fast once again leaving our coupe in the dust. it handles pretty damm well too. as for the a4 i dont know i havent ever driven one of these. if you see a g35 on the road, dont bother racing him as you will only see how stupid the trunk of that car looks.

In Sydney, E46's are everywhere. Really sick of seeing them, especially the Hyundai looking rear ends !
We say they are like butts - cos everybody has one !

G35 rides much worse than any C- Class. Interior is cheaper looking than the Altima. Great engine thou The A4 I don't get...its a nice car, nice interior, but in standard form its FWD, and with the 1.8 its a rather anemic 8.5 seconds to 60 even with the stick. BMW vs. MB is like Ford vs. Chevy or Toyota vs. Honda... Who cares?

exactly!!! That was put excellently!!! Even though MB's quality has declined from the very dependable 300 D Turbodiesel, they are still great! |

IMO C-class in general is no competitor in the performance sector against the A4 and the 3er or the G35. Luxury wise, yes, the C-class will be better than the 3 and G35, but it's still behind the A4. Last edited by FrankW; 02-19-2003 at 01:41 AM. |

The A4 feels quick when the boost comes up, but there's so little there until it spools up. Anywho, I found this over at Edmunds...looks like were both off half a second. 0-60 Acceleration Infiniti G35 6.1 sec. BMW 330i 7.0 sec. Lexus IS 300 7.2 sec. Volvo S40 7.8 sec. Acura TL 8.0 sec. Audi A4 8.0 sec. Chrysler 300M 8.0 sec. BMW 325i 8.1 sec. Lexus ES 300 8.1 sec. Mercedes-Benz C240 9.2 sec. This is from Motorweek 2002 Audi A4 Engine 1.8 liter, DOHC, 20-valve, turbocharged in-line 4 Horsepower 170 Torque 166 lb feet 0-60 mph 8.0 seconds 1/4 mile 16.3 seconds @ 85 mph 60-0 mph 131 feet

I'm surprised no one mentioned the new Jaguar 3.0 X-type sport! I looove that car. Well, the AWD 3.0L Sport costs $58k CDN so it's pretty expensive, but the 2.something L is cheaper, only $41k, and it comes with more options than a C. I'd consider that over a C240 for sure. I remember seeing on the option sheet that a sport package cost, what was it, $5000 maybe? Or was it $3000? Forgot, but tack that onto the $41k base price and it's still decently priced, for AWD, and looks (but no power).
If i were to choose from that list of cars though, I'd pick the S40. Just realized how cheap it is compared to a C, decent (in fact, good) performance, and well, decent looks. Unless I manage to get the replica BTCC bodykit from Europe, now that changes things! |
