Couldn't you call the dealer and ask them to hold it for two weeks until you come back?

I agree...that will kill your resale value if they ever run a carfax...2 owners in 2 weeks does not look good.

You trying to get around something like sales tax or credit problems? If so, might be tough to pull-off in the end.

Well, you could tell your dealer that since you'll be out of town and he's not willing to wait that you'd like your deposit back (I assumed you ordered the car). Then go to another dealer and order another one, or wait until you get back in town, perhaps the car you ordered will still be at the first dealer (I assume it's built and on the boat or something, otherwise the dealer could slip your build back some).

Sorry, I was just in the W209 forum and noticed that's what you're trying to buy. Their current "scarcity" makes the story a little different (I thought you were looking at a W203). Isn't there any way you can complete the paperwork for the purchase then simply have a friend pick it up? Seems like you and your bank could FedEx all the necessary documents to and from your current location.

This is exactly how you should do it, if that works for you.

Why dont you just pay for it fully now and ask the dealer to keep it until you return?

ALso I think you cant buy extended warranty on a "second-hand" car
