interior LED light issue

Ok I just got back from 4ngiefest in ATL and I was like one of 3 or 4 MB that were there, but still had a great time. I won a set of blue LED interior lights that are the same size bulbs I have in now even though the LED's were for a BMW. So I put them all in and they only stay on for a second and then shut off. I have used the search on the forum but have spent the last two hours looking for an answer and I'm frustaded and tired. Any one have any clue what may be wrong? Thanks for any and all advice, MIKE.

prob the same issue that you have with any led system with a alerting circuit system, bulbs don't provide the right resistance so the car shuts them off because it doesn't think a lights there. I think you need resistors in there, they may be cheap bulbs (gauging by the fact they gave you blue glow lights for a mercedes) so my guess would be that, you need resistors to get em to work. Im sure some one with more knowledge will elaborate or correct me if im wrong

AdidasC230 is right, I bought my interior lights from superbrightleds.com and they came with resistors built in.

They have them on ebay.

You need this for the dome bulb and for rear. (1 dome and 1 rear so 1 set is fine)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/41mm-...Q5fAccessories

Then for your Map lights your need
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/White...Q5fAccessories

you can also buy these for the door one (under door)

for license plate you can use these
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/No-Er...Q5fAccessories

our license plate light is 36mm and the dome light is 41mm

Tested by me and they work

forget that go to pepboys or autozone. they got a 4x5 led bulb that comes in hyperwhite/blue/red whichever u want. thats 20, but u can get a smaller one for 15. the book ones are a 194 sized wedge bulb. same as the one used in your inner parking lights. those run like a few bucks but the higher quality ones ran 10

Pepboys and Autozone one are gonna give him the same problem that he is having now. He needs LED bulbs with built in resistors.

Those are from my company, and yes, they do throw errors. You can install separate load resistors but it requires tapping into the wiring system. Best bet is to get one with a built in resistor.

to be quite honest, im going to disagree. the 194's gave me an error when put into the headlights (official term?) but not when put into the book sockets up front. neither one of the little 5w lights game me issues either.

I've seen LED boards retain the dimming/fade feature. I haven't seen any issue with ones that have the proper resistors.

ok thanks. i'm still looking for blue led interior bulbs (built in resistors so they do not stay dimly lit). i can find plenty that are white, but no blue. i ordered blue ones from superbrightleds and they stayed dimly lit. it also doesn't help with my limited electrical background... definitely frustrating

mine of course is CANbus equipped. I'm not quite sure what you mean though. i wanted the blue domes so it would match my blue led footwell lighting by the way. it shouldn't be the CANbus system thats causing the led's to stay dimly lit though. thats because its not drawing enough power. i'd love to find some just like the ones posted previously on this thread...except in blue. hmmmm. anymore insight though blueacc333?

I got a set of license plate and city lights with the "error" cancellors and they worked just fine with no error. Unfortunatley I just hit the 10 month mark and like clock work I had one license plate bulb and one city light bulb go out. They still turn on initially but then immediately go out after a second or 2.

thank you blueacc333....so far

as directed by blueacc333, i ordered some LED city lights off good old ebay---
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=580084392017

they came in today and were of course just plug and play. no problems yet. knock on wood. i will post a picture when it gets darker out.

the attached picture are of my PREVIOUS city lights. which i ordered from superbightleds.com. i love the brightness, but they were only reliable for a few months (constant error messages and eventually flickering).

hopefully the new ones work out better

Were there no resistors on the LED's from superbrightleds.com?

I'm looking at replacing all of my interior bulbs with LED's but I want to buy them all from the same place to make sure they are all the same colour!!
