C350 Coupe (CL203)
I'm still interested to know if the later steering wheel swapped over with no issues ?
I have a w203 2005 facelift Coupe that i'd like to fit a w204 version steering wheel to, as was fitted to the CLC's

Please tell me how you made the cruise control work. I need to figure that out for my car.
If you put the 55k engine in your you will need to use CLK DTM fuel tank and if you are not owner of DTM then AMG might not sell you the parts. Basically it uses the e55 fuel senders and has its own custom "one of a kind" ECU and ESP. The price is also amazing since there is only one supplier. For example. The engine support frame (k-member) is CNC machined from one solid piece of metal. Different from the normal frame.
The 55/63 engine offers much less complication in the design of the fuel delivery system. The assembly follows generic CLK63 ideas.
You should write to AMG when you are finished and ask them to provide you with a new AMG VIN. A car can actually have many VIN and not just the one which is stamped from the body. This means you can scan your car in Xentry / DAS under the correct category. A nice but enjoyable difference.

The EGS-2 with paddle shift, transmission controller only recognises combinations of transmission and engine which were previously built.
For example.
203035 is the M111 C180. Never had paddle shift.
203042 is the M271 C200K works fine
The combination of ECU, transmission and differential are also part of the ESP. If you change one then you need to change the SCN code for the ECU. Since we don't have that information available then it's a major nuisance to deal with.
The paddle shift enabling for the correct combination of hardware is a 2 min software routine.
* transmission controller
* SCM button (gear surround )
* 428 compatible steering spiral
I tried coding my m111 transmission and pretended that it was the same as m271 equivalent and then it had all kinds of problems with gear changes and it reads the error code as slipping friction rings.
Given enough time it would still be impossible to code the m111 combination because it had the wrong power curve.

I think khirov has been gone for a while from this board.
He got a lot of crap from people, can't remember exactly why, but his
work on the CLC conversion is sure amazing. Still wondering where he got his doner car. Hmmmm,.....

C350 Coupe (CL203)
I had my paddle shift mod done the other day, easier for me because the car could have that as an option in the first place, the wheel was a R171 version, with paddles not buttons, and the plastic paddles i swapped for the AMG ones, as benzmodz said
* transmission controller coding
* SCM button (gear surround ) - purely cosmetic, i swapped just the button, none of the frame or anything, because my original was in better condition than my donor parts.
The paddle shifter wiring piggy backs into the airbag plugs i believe on mine, so no additional parts required, works a treat and looks great, more info and pics here...

For the steering wheel, just get it reskinned. It's not that expensive, and you can get exactly what you want. No need to have to buy MB OEM parts.

Still, I like what he did...nice. Don't think it's possible on our early coupes.
I'm guessing it cost well over a grand. Maybe 2 even?
So oh great blue one, where does one get a steering wheel re-skinned, and what does it cost?

My steering wheel started rubbing off to the point it got so annoying I just un stitched the wrap and chunked it. Doesn't look nice now but at least I don't have that crap rubbing off on my hands.

Edgar, you'll laugh about this one:
http://dallassteeringwheel.com/index.htm
I talked to them about doing my little aftermarket wheel for my crx; I think this is a base price, though $349 (I'd assume alcantara, cf extra), will take 3-4 days.
Have no direct experience yet, but have seen a good amount of positive experiences. Their gallery has some high-quality-looking work too...
I will be sending off my CRX's steering wheel, its sunvisors, and my Benz's armrest to them once the CRX is hibernating for the winter, which should be just after the Turkey Day holidays or so.
And you guys were thinking that I was just talking out of my ***.
And if you're not into that, I've still got two non-C7 coupe steering wheels for sale, both charcoal, one with a Wheelskin two-tone cover on it that I used while my Benz's wheel was being reskinned (was by AGLA in Miami - www.aglausa.com - pretty good work, but not as many options on their stuff). At this point, I'd part with either steering wheel for a very good price just to get them off my bookshelf.

They are down my street!
What's the cost on the arm rest? I'm finally putting my car back little by little but I still haven't installed the arm rest because of this exact reason.
PM me pictures and prices on both steering wheels? I may be open to just swapping since I have basically replaced everything interior related in my car.

They quoted me $175 for the armrest - there's a pic in their gallery of a Benz armrest that looks really nice.
Pic of each is in my gallery already.

CLC Front?
I am a bit late to the Coupe party and this discussion, but is retrofitting the CLC front to the C Coupe as easy as replacing hood, bumper, side panels, etc?
I use easy lightly.
I am glad I found this post as I was perusing the parts catalog and came across a diagram which showed a different front for my coupe. Now it all makes sense!

Tod, I assume it would be that easy. The early model CL203 and the late model CL203 is on the same chassis, same frame, same suspension, same everything pretty much. Only real difference is the interior; hell even the doors are directly carried over from the two generations. Though if I did this mod, I'd probably only replace the front end. I dislike the facelifted rear in comparisson to the old rear.

For those who judge, they better start doing some work instead being so lame.
And engine well : 2006 C55 AMG donor vehicle is getting delivered early spring to give its power away, and one 2005 E55 Supercharger will go the whole way too.
So all my US " Friends " will be welcomed on Canadian soil next summer to see how the 5.4L Supercharged heart beats in the " DAS CLC " .
And for all of them i will supply a poster.
