I apologize for reviving this old thread, but I just started having this problem several days ago after flushing/replacing the power steering fluid. I used Pentosin CHF 11S and have checked the fluid level several times and it's correct. The weird thing is the groaning/rubbing noise I get only happens when I turn to the right. On left turns, the noise doesn't happen. This noise was not present prior to replacing the PSF. It's like a rubbing that feels like it's coming from the steering column itself.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have the same issue when turning right.
Sounds like big off road tires rubbing in the wheel well, but nothing is hitting.
Goes away when you speed up and straighten out.

Im having this issue but it’s when I make a sharp turn to the left, what seemed to be the issue? I work on my own car but I’m thinking about sending it to a mechanic because I can’t find the issue, I’ve drained the fluid and replaced it next I was going to rebalance my tires, any help?

Does this happen at full lock? Need to be more specific to when this happens.

I've noticed that the tires on this car don't quite turn the "correct" amount during sharp turns. The tires make rubbing noises if I do a sharp turn on a smooth surface such as an indoor parkade. Just want to make sure we're not talking about this. If this is the problem, an alignment will help.

Almost turning the wheel completely left but not completely, about 75 percent dialed left I get a rubbing/ soft grinding noise like something pressing against the tire at which the steering wheel is postioned when making that 75% left turn, If I don’t make a turned turning 75% left I won’t hear anything

Are you using factory wheels or at least wheels with the correct size (diameter and width) and offsets?
