AUX plug install question (for those who've done it)
Hopefully I'll be putting in my comand this weekend, along with the AUX plug in the glove box. I was reading the directions for installing the AUX plug and it very briefly mentions removing the quick release front of the connector to install the plug. I cannot figure out how to remove the quick release on the front of the connector. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance!

If you don't get an answer before..I think I have one I broke figuring it out at work. If so I will try to take some pictures - I don't remember off hand, but I remember it made sense once I puzzled it out the first time.

I assume this is the connector you are talking about, where it goes in the glove compartment. There is an inner piece that simply slides in and clips, and the outer pieces. It just pulls straight out but it clips in pretty tight. There are two places - one on each side - where it has a flat hook. I do remember it was pretty hard to get apart, actually even the one I took pictures of was pretty tight.
I am attaching pictures of my first one, after I tore it apart that let you see how it clips in. (Ok, I didn't break it apart *just* to see how it worked...)
I hope these help.

Yep, that's the plug. Thanks a bunch, MW_ATL!!! I don't think I ever would have figured that out.
I wound up buying a comand retrofit harness from MBDoctor.com. It's supposed to be plug and play, no cutting required. I was expecting a couple 'adatper' cables (C --> C1 & C2; aux plug adapter), but got one 'all-inclusive' harness. I'm guessing I need to replace the existing harness with this one? I have no idea where a lot of these connections go - I'm hoping it makes more sense when I get in there. I'm attaching a pic if anyone can help identify connectors and where they go:

Ick..that looks like the factory harness, but without the female C-connector for the existing factory harness to plug into. They used two separate harnesses in production cars. I get home, I can probably point you to a document that shows how to cannibalize that one and make the adapter.

Thanks MW - I have the document where he added another connector in between the C and C1/C2(Command 2.0 Installation Instructions - with Pictures), but I'd rather not cannibalize this harness as it was sold as plug and play. Notice the've all ready spliced in the aux connector. Hopefully things will make themselves more evident as I tear it apart...

OK, while re-reading the aforementioned document I believe I've got the names of all the connections. I think the one labelled ??? is the D2B wakeup, but the wire colors are different than in the writeup.
I don't know where to plug in the 'CD' connector, but it appears to be somewhere near the head unit based on how the harness was made. C1 & C2 into the comand unit. I have no idea where the CANB or D2B wakeup go either, but am guessing somewhere near the CD changer again based upon how the harness was made.
I'm going to see about starting to rip into her with the last bit of daylight left...
Edit: I guess the D2B wakeup wires ARE the same color as in the write-up, but I have pins vs. the connector in the writeup.

I think the CD connector is going all the way to the CD player. Whew, that is going to make it a bit of work, but will be nice and neat in the end.
Yep, that was the document. If that female C connector were more available it would be a lot easier!

Unfortunately for me, Steve (MBenzML) emailed me back after I placed the order to MBDoctor. For the exact same price I would have gotten a C to C1/C2 adapter cable, antenna, and extra mounting screws. I think this is all I really would have needed. Se la vie, I guess I'm going this route... Thought I'd mention it though for prosperity's sake.

Hi all,
It seems the AUX cable is a bit loose (when inserting plug AUX pushes in and when pulling out plug AUX pulls out). Anybody else experience this? I know there is a snap but can't seem to get it to snap into place when in.
Thanks.
