P0015 HELP. Camshaft Position Actuator B - Bank 1 Timing Over-Retard
My car was throwing a code so I scanned it and it came up as P0015 which is Camshaft Position Actuator B - Bank 1 Timing Over-Retard. I searched it up and there was nothing specifically about it except some talk about magnets. Can something let me know what the problem it and possibly provide the WIS file to repair it (karo).
Thanks in advance

I get this quite often. It should go away on it's own. John was getting these same problems but I don't recall what he did to solve it. I just ignored it because STAR says not to replace it
Reset it and drive around and see if it comes up again.

See Johnands thread on replacing the magnets. - WIS docs are attached there.

I took this pic couple of weeks ago. I got the same message maybe 5-8 times throughout my ownership of the vehicle. When you click on the message it states NOT to change the camshaft position sensor. For some reason for me it happens when the car is still a little cold and my foot is a little heavy

Karo - As I understand it that is correct. You do not generally have to replace the camshaft sensor. It is the magnet assembly that requires replacement & has been redesigned.

Replace the magnet. Cheap and easy to fix. All the info you need is in this thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...-bank-1-a.html

Thanks for the clarification John. We had visitors & I did not have time to look for your thread.

The intake cam is the one at the top of the V on both sides closest to the inlet manifold. Exhaust cam is closest to the headers.

I'm a little confused (a state I'm very familiar with!). I got two P015s last night on the way home. It was chilly and I might have been a little more aggressive with the gas than usual. From my reading of the posts this could be something that will just go away. But I'm also curious if getting two P015 codes has any particular meaning. I'm assuming that the issue is with both cams on bank one. Is that right? Which is bank one? I looked on the wiki for the document to change the magnets but all I found was the Star Bulletin about the balance shaft sprocket and there didn't seem to be anything related to my code or how to just change the magnets.
Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Certainly somebody has some knowledge about this. (BTW, It probably goes without saying, but in case it doesn't, this occurred on my 2006 C230).

Hey I replaced my cam magnets over a year or so ago and this code came up again recently. Similar to above comments the cel just goes away then it comes back. Weird. Debating about should I ignore it since I had them replaced recently. Any thoughts?
