4Matic, Traction Control and Gas Mileage

So I've been playing around on the highway, testing gas mileage - and it seems as though if I turn off the traction control on my 4Matic, I get better gas mileage.

Can anyone else confirm this to be the case?

As a side note, it also feels like I get better acceleration with it off as well.

unless there is something is wrong with the ESP and dragging the car slower, it shouldn't make any difference - under normal driving conditions.

Please note that turning ESP OFF does NOT mean the car goes to 2 wheel drive. It's a full time 4-wheel drive. ESP engages under certain conditions like slipping.

I'm surprised to have read this more than once. It makes absolutely no difference because the traction control isn't active unless there is a low-traction situation. Not to mention that it is STILL on even when you turn it "off" with the button "ESP OFF". Unless you disable it (and ABS) with dyno mode, that is.

PCY is right. This makes no more difference than the color of the driver's hair.
