C-Class : Make your hood stand up straight..

pocholin showed this on his e55 yesterday... i was jealous and looked on my c230 and LO! i can do it too!!

open your hood... on the driver's side strut thingy there is a red button... push it in and continue raising your hood. it will lock at almost 90 degrees. push hood back a bit, press button and lower to return to normal open position...

I believe that's a "feature" that MB's have had for many years...another indication that many of the Benz engineering details make their way "down" to the entry level models...i.e., C-Class in general. (Not that it's a sophisticated bit of engineering, but stil... )

This feature was available in my parent's 1982 230 W123, although mechanically it was very different. When I got my coupe, I expected it to be there and was glad to see it was. Old and useful indeed.

Yes- just one of the links to the past in this car. I looked for this feature when I remembered that my dad's old 300E used to have it. One nitpick is that I wish the horn sounded like the one in that car- Mercedes used to have a distinctive-sounding horn, but the one they use now sounds really generic.

the horn...

yeah but at least it sounds like a real horn. i was surprised the first time i used the horn on my c230. it sounds like a real horn. HONK! not BEEP! like on a lot of small cars.
