W203 C32 AMG, W124 E300D
This probably belongs in the c32/55 forum but this applies to all W203 sport sedans.

-squeaky brakes
-Seat sensor going bad causing srs light and disabled airbags (WTF?!)
-telescoping steering wheel doesnt go up & down
-HID ballast went out after bulb replacement
-Navigation system tweaks, fuzzy noise, cd changer work 50% of the time and cd stuck in head unit
-Bose rear subs rattle
-Front end suspension components wore out too quickly, I've had W123,W124,W126,W140's that had tough original front ends at 250K+ miles my C32 had suspension noise at 80K!!

Other then that still love this car

C240
02' C240 :
Family owned the car since 07' starting with 50k miles.
Issues since then : (Can't remember exactly when and at what miles) )-:
- After a year of owning the car the tranny blew.. Warranty covered though!
- Both front door pulls popped out
- Alternator had to be replaced
- Squeeky Brakes
- Last summer the stock CD changer stopped playing. Stereo doesn't recognize that it's there.
- Dashboard air-vent plastic mesh was coming off
- When cold 2nd gear to 3rd has a little jerk. When in sport mode 1st to 2nd is constantly jerky. Changing tranny fluid this weekend and hopefully the jerkiness will go away. )-:
- Forgot about this one! Turn signal doesn't stay unless I'm holding it down/up. Sometimes I'm able to have it stay, but I'd have to play with it.

That's all the problems my family an I have experienced so far, but I still got a lot of love for her since she's my first! haha

I was very disappointed after buying car new and having ALL recommended service completed that Mercedes did not stand behind their product and make it right, but they didnt. They did agree to deduct $3000 from repair bill which is better then nothing

Agreed. $4700 is still a lot of money to send on a car that has less than 100K miles! But it is A LOT better than nothing and better than what they might have done.

Purchased at 115,xxx and have brought it up to 118,xxx.

So far I've done Service B and changed spark plugs.
Brake wear message came up so I'm gonna get that done at the dealership.

Other than that, just a few miscellaneous issues ie., front suspension clunking, rear left lock actuator needs replacement, and center console handle/cover/whatever the f it is is broken.

Love my car!

I would change the pads myself, dealer charges an arm and leg just to do a brake change.

2005 MB C230K Sport Sedan & 2011 MB C300
05 C230K Sport Sedan purchased with 76,600miles on 09/2010.
First time Mercedes owner and am currently at 138,000 miles. Been problem free for 61,400 miles and a little over 2 years.

-Service A and B all completed by myself.
-Changed front and rear brake pads (Autozone Gold brake pads)
-Changed Front rotors - OEM MB rotors from RMEuropean.com
-Air and cabin filter from importrp.com
-Bilstein sport front struts from Importrp.com
-Bilstein sport rear shocks from raceinspired.com
-2 sets of 19" rear tires for my aftermarket iForged wheels

Plan on changing spark plugs, drive belt, transmission filter, and tranny fluid at next service (147,000miles). Yes, I'm currently on the original fluid at 138,000 miles. Transmission was never serviced by previous owner.

AC makes squeaky noise when you turn it on. I figured it might be the idler pulley or ac compressor pulley. Too cold in KS to use AC right now so I plan to diagnose that problem once I get to my next service and when the weather warms up.

Vehicle has only been in the Benz dealer once due to SRS light coming on. Dealer diagnosed it and determined it to be inconclusive. Couldn't figure out why it came on, but they reset it and told me that if it comes back on bring it back in. Months later, no SRS light and car still runs like a champ.

Daily driven in all elements - rain, snow, ice, sleet, highway, street, cross country road trips and across the state road trips. The vehicle lives on the road and isn't garage jewelery.

I plan to keep this thing well into the 200,000 + plus mile range.

10 Tahoe LT, 07 Silverado Z71, 99 BMW R1100RT
05 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan, currently at 96xxx miles. Have owned it for about 18 months and my daughter has put about 6K miles on it. In addition to oil and filter changes I haven't had to do any repairs whatsoever to it.

PO had the car for 5.5 years and the repairs covered under warranty were as follows:

- engine vent hose (warranty)
- cruise control (warranty)
- cup holder (warranty)
- gas gauge (warranty)
- AC compressor clutch shaft (warranty)
- belt tensioner
- belt tensioner bolt
- serpentine belt
- alternator pulley
- charge air box
- intake pipe

Stuff not covered under warranty:

- all Service As and Bs
- tranny connector
- vacuum pump
- thermostat
- cruise control switch
- brake pads, rotors and sensors

So, nothing major at all, really. The only things on my list currently are tranny fluid change before 100K, replace both broken interior door pulls on front doors and repair/replace broken center console lid. PO had put some cheap-*** 19" Nankangs on it and I had to replace all those because two of them suffered tread separation.

It's was definitely reassuring to buy the car from an owner who had saved each and every receipt (whether from dealer service/repairs, mods from Ebay/MBWorld members/local shops etc. etc.). He had also documented each and every transaction in an Excel-spreadsheet with prices, dates and mileage noted. He spent over $8600 on various things over the course of his ownership. That includes all services, repairs, mods etc.

A Prius because I'm green
07 C230SS with 100,891 miles all put on by me. Car runs great to this day and averages 33-36 mpg. I am within the range of M272’s that can have the camshaft sprocket issue and it’s making me debate on keeping it or taking the $9,200 offer I got for the car. It’s a tough choice, it’s not as fun as my 05 E55 but she’s been reliable and I may be bias but I still think the W203 looks great inside and out.

Warrantied work I have had done:
- rear brake pads replaced and rotors deglazed due to a high pitch squeal – 3,434 miles.
- ECU updated per recall – 10,932 miles.
- Rear driver side taillight replaced due to rear fog light out (Dealer scammed MB on this one but I’ll take it)/Upper idler pulley replaced – 40,181 miles
- Upper idler pulley replaced (bad bearing) – 48,609 miles

Non-warrantied work
- Original tires replaced at 51,000 miles with Conti DWS (still on the car today)
- Front rotors and pads replaced – 70,000 miles
- Thermostat replaced 11/2012 – 70-80,000 miles

If I decide to keep it I have to replace the plugs, flush the tranny, diff and brakes, fuel filter if it’s external, replace the four camshaft sensors to the newer part, clean the MAF and see how she runs. Maybe giver her a make over with new lights, maybe some wheels since Phisters thread has me drooling and see if she can give me another 100k. Unless someone wants to make me an offer, anyone?

2007 C230 Sport, 1991 300E
2007 C230 Sport - purchased used in 2008 with 22kmiles. I found out later that this car had been a dealer loaner and they sent it to auction rather than making it a CPO, so maybe they knew something that I didn't.

Repairs under warranty -
Passenger-side mirror was fogged, dealer replaced

After warranty -
@46,415 mi. -Driver-side window switch - one button broke and had to replace entire module - $368
@50,833 mi. - Replace thermostat - $549 and Transmission Conductor Plate - $1632
@52,000 mi. - Driver-side dor handle broke off - bought part on eBay for $40 and had a body shop replace it. Stealership wanted $300+ to fix it, guys at the body shop did it for 2 6-packs.
@54,500 - had the front brakes replaced for almost $600. The Left Upstream Oxygen Sensor also needs to be replaced, Stealership wants almost $700 to do the repair, $340 for the part and $320 labor. I can buy the part for about $100 and another shop will install for $300. Have also oticed the CD Cartridge palyer not working, and the auto climate control goes wacko sometimes when adjusting the temp, I hate to think what that would cost to fix.

All-in-all, I would prefer to get rid of the car and get something else, but the wife loves her little Sport.

2008 C230 Sport Wagon M272 egine auto gearbox

Bought this car as the second owner. 69 tkms.
at 75 tkm Auto gearbox fault. Still under warranty and MB gagrage repaired for free.
Sometimes SRS light would stay on. I cleaned contactor at ECB and it seemed to fix it. Haven't seen it for a long time.
That's all for now. Camshaft balance shaft gear is made with soft metal.
Not sure what to think of that. How long will it last.
New rotors and pads all 4 wheels at 100 kms.
New Michelin Pilot Sport tires. New Iridium plugs.
One cracked 5 spoke rim. Replaced with new for 225 Euros.

C230 Sport Coup + 2006 W164 ML350 + 99 Ford Escort (What the heck, it gets 38 mpg!)
This thread popped up so taking a look. Old post but seriiously, if you can't DIY or you don't have a pot of gold, you gonna get rooked.

Me- @Drivers side switch broke- ordered repair kit from Turkey off ebay for like 10 bucks. Took door panel off, took switch apart, replaced the plastic switch pieces. Took about 1/2 hour. $10, not $368.
@Thermosat- Not replaced but have one sitting in a drawer, genuine
mercedes part, cost less than $50, not $549.

@Transmission Conductor Plate - $1632? Not done yet, but considering doing it when I do trans fluid change, $225 easily changed, good you tube video's on this one. + cost of renting a lift for an hour $30.
@Front brakes, pads and rotors- $300 with new 13.3" AMG rotors + Akebono Ceramics. Easiest repair in the world. Jack up car, remove wheel, remove the pads, remove the calipers (2 screws) remove the rotors (1 screw) reverse. Done in 1/2 hour. Save $300 minimum. My brakes at a dealer are usually like a grand.
@Upstream Oxygen Sensor- Really, they wanted HOW much, they just screw in ya know, and one connector. Wow. $75-100 each. Genuine Bosch. $300 labor? Such a deal! 15 minute fix. Bwaaaa Haaaa HAaaaa!
CD changer ? Toss it.

I recently replaced the drivers side mirror, recirculating air valve (goes on intake, regulates the amount of air from the supercharger)
and shift module. Total for those parts from the dealer would have been ~ 700+700+ 375 (mirror) + tax= almost 2 grand.
Pulled all these parts myself at pick and pull for less than $100. More like $50.
That being said, I had to wait for an '02 model to pop up, and drove 50 miles in each direction twice to get this stuff.
And the car sat for a while, with the shifter problem. But I have another car.
And of course, I diy'd.

Unhappy Possible Lemon Law

Unfortunately for me I may have to go the way of the lemon law for my 2016 C450. I am very sad about this but unless MB comes up with some kind of remedy, I'll be filing the first of the week.

My rear seatbelt doesn't work, as it is locked in place. The replacement has been on backorder for over two months. The dealer is clueless on how to solve so I contacted MB. They escalated it and even their "highest level of customer support" says it will be another month before I can have a seatbelt that works. It is red but that shouldn't be an excuse as to why MB can't put a safe seatbelt in a car for months at a time.

At this point the only good news is that I have been advised that in Georgia, it is "quite clear" that I qualify for the lemon law. Here, a car only has to have a significant safety issue for 30 days. I don't want to go this route but I can't continue to have a car that is illegal and unsafe to carry three kids in the back. I am very, very disappointed in MB that they are in production on the new C43 but they won't pull a seatbelt from their production schedule so my family can be safe. I have been more than patient for 2+ months. Guess it is time to move on...
