C-spot Party was pretty awesome, few minor quirks
Hi all,
I live in Houston, TX and finally went to the C-spot party on Sunday morning. The registration was fairly painless and the initial impression was "impressive". The inside is like a club with techno music, lighting, gadgets/plasma screens all over the place, and the food was pretty decent (NOTE: those really cool looking drinks Raize and Psych taste like @$$). Anyway, on to the cars, they demonstrated a straight line 0-60-0 of AMG C32 vs BMW E46 M3 (dunno if it was SMG or manny). Then there are wet hazard course to test out the 4matic vehicles, dry course for other c class (I got to test drive a C320coupe on track, very nice but didnt have C7 so stock tires were squealing the whole time, no grip). Then you get to ride (not drive ) in C32s driven by professional drivers, nice but nothing really to write home about.
The few quirks: the funny tasting drinks, The lack of knowledge on some of the event ppl. For example, the main presentation of a c class sedan and while the guy raved about how great the c230k sedan is while they're showing a C320 sedan on display "pretending" to be C230k sedan. While I drove the non C7 C320coupe i left something in the car that belong to a friend, when she went to go ask them to stop the C320coupe for a minute, they harrassed her (one guy stated "how does your friend know he drove a C320coupe? maybe it was a sedan or diff coupe?" VERY STEREOTYPICAL). Overall, very nice as MB spent some money on this (I went to Cadillac 2 yrs ago and this is nicer). Will try to post some pics and maybe even videos in the days to come. Just moved into new place so will not have Road Runner until Thurs

I think it was 50 cars/trucks around a track and off-road course (depending on vehicle). The price was $15 per person, but was well worth it...
At the time the 3 Series BMW, the New lexus IS300, and the Lincoln LS were the cars to drive. The tires were pretty worn on the IS, I remember drifting through the course.

C-spot thing sounds cool...post some picture if you got'em...
so how did the 0-60-0 comparison between c32 and m3 go? wonder if they will intentionally "slow" the m3 in the test...hehe

hey guys, well if you have about 2+hrs free and a friend or two to go with its definitely worth it. Dunno about weather in your area but go early while the cars are cool and so is the track. The place looked really nice and the cars are quite fun to drive (although the tracks were made really short so any chance of open throttle for long is gone). Its free drive, free food/drinks, free gifts so nothing to lose. Definitely go early Oh and another thing is, pretend to be not impressed by the "pro driver" driving the C32 and he will REALLy push it to the limit
*I hope I get road runner today, then will post some stuff. Later.
