Plasti-dip on YOUR Benz, Blasphemy

Matt, can you scan the entire alignment report, so I can get a better look at it? As, I told you yesterday, just glad it is back to driving like new, and as long as it drives fine don't sweat it.

Yeah that is not going to happen. Plasti-dip looks horrendously tacky in almost all circumstances. But I did not want to try to paint this area myself.

the '05 is doing well. the rough start at idle and the rough idle sometimes when cold bugs me, but I don't know what to do about that. once it's warmed up, the car is perfect.

Maybe you should consider changing the timing chain. Not that that is for sure the cause, but given what has been going on around here lately it certainly couldn't hurt. My car will still give one slight sputter if it is very cold outside overnight at first start. Other than that I get no rough idle or starts.

yeah, I was thinking of doing that. I think I'll send the thread around to a couple of shops I use for a quote and then change it out in a few months when the service is due.

I also think I should change the 02 sensor as well.

I'm going 113k miles on it so far.

I may get my first high mileage badge at 155,000 this year.

I was quoted $260 in labor to change the chain. RMEuropean has the chain for $52 and tensioner for $77. It's a lot cheaper than the alternative.

I saw that, I wish you were here so I could go to the same shop! I don't know if the labor will be the same.

That dealer is a piece of work! Obviously the job is to ALIGN the wheels and to my mind, the only reason not to get them right would be because something was bent or they didn't have the (non standard) parts. Yeesh!

I'm glad you got everything straightened out in the end and it's riding like new again! The new black (it is black, right?) accent looks great!

Jim, yep it is black.

Nothing was bent on my car. Everything is in great shape on the under carriage.. no signs of leaks or anything. They just would not move the fluted bolt for whatever reason. I thought that moving the fluted bolts around till it was in spec was the definition of an alignment. They disagreed. Perhaps they should advertise it as "Alignment $110* *Does not include alignment"

Your Photoshop license plate blurring skills are top notch!

Nice sticker, btw.

Pretty sad. You got $50 off the price of a $110 alignment and it still wasn't worth it!

I ripped RBM of Atlanta in the survey today. I'm sure they'll soon be calling as they did last time.

Mad skillz yo!

Thanks, as I put the sticker on I told myself "it's insured." It's sad that was the first thing I thought, but taking a stand against a sect of pro-lifers that will kill you for disagreeing..

I think it goes along nicely on the Benz. So far so good with the plasti-dip, even in the rain and the heat near the exhaust. I wonder if it can stand up against an automagic car wash?

Oh yeah. You'll hear from them right away If they really wanted your business, they would just do it right the first time.

Matt PM'ed me. The alignment is still wrong with the castor offset on the wrong side. I despair for him.

I don't blame you. It's gonna get worse before it gets better; and only then, when the owner of the magical underwear finally concedes.

Never understood whose vote would be swayed by a sticker on the hind quarters of any vehicle, particularly a fancy import.

Me? I'm always ready to mix it up...

Thanks John! I took the long way home last night because it drives great now. As it should, with all new engine mounts, brakes, bushings, tires, etc.
