No brake lights?

The other day a guy tapped on my window to tell me my brake light weren't working, sure enough they aren't. All other lights work including tail lights, just no brake lights. Not even third brake lights. What could it be? Stop switch?

Is there a fuse or relay for the brake lights?

Could be the brake light sensor it is like $15 and takes 10 minutes to install very common issue on early w203's

Thank you. Does that go under the brake pedal?

Yes. Are you not getting warnings on the dash?

Hi, mine has ESP/BAS set on dash and I have no brake lights. I reset the fail and tapped the brake pedal and ESP/BAS set again. Though mine is a W202 I suspect there not much different.

I am having trouble removing the OBD II connector from the "insulation cover". Any tips ? I have already removed the two mounting screws.

ESP/BAS Fixed

Tried to find a new switch in town. No luck. Removed switch; sprayed thoroughly with electronic circuit cleaner blew dry with compressed air. Reinstalled: ESP/BAS cleared. Good fix.

Thanks for the info/help.

ok to follow up on this thread, my W203's right brake light is out and I changed the bulb, havent been able to check the fuse. I do have warnings on the dash but the real tricky part is that this only really started when one of my buddies slammed the trunk really hard like a freakin idiot the other day............

Any ideas??

And its only the right side of the car that is doing this, the left is fine, so would it be the switch if its only one side??

do any of the ligths work on the right side? Check the connector that goes to the light could have come loose also switch the bulb from the other side to see if the bulb is just bad.

Just did the swap an you guys were right, it was a faulty bulb out of the new package I just bought. Haha how does thaf happen, now I dont have to dodge the Honolulu PD so much. Thanks for the suggestion. And since I was in such good spirits, now that my brake light is working again, I went on ECS tunning and bought some drop in K&N high flower drop in boxes as well. Did the same thing in the mainland with my Audi A4. Cant wait till they get here.

Thanks again, these forums really help!
