What do you mean you changed out that? What did you put in place if it? I don't think that would be relevant to it though, SRS usually as to do with airbags, seat belts and such. Just saying that your SRS light came on won't really get you anywhere because there are a ton of things that could cause it. I would recommend buying a code reader and figuring out the code, then post the code here and go from there on what to do to fix it. Most likely you will need to go to the dealer though because I feel like I read somewhere on here that only the dealer can clear SRS codes. Not 100% sure about that though

Well then I don't think it would be relevant, did it come on immediately after you changed it?

Probably you seatbealt then. I spilled water down there once and it threw on my srs light, dealer changed me 430 to replace it. The part itself is 80, it's the labor fees that kill you because they take the hole seat out

If you can DIY it would be much cheeper just a $80 part, really nothings wrong, just a sensor issue because of the water (or in your case soda) damage. Again I am just assuming this may be your issue because it sounds very similar to myn it could be something else. SRS issues aren't something to play around with because it could have to do with something more dangerous like a airbag

Sorta by the red Handel that you pull to pop your hood under the steering wheel. There's a plastic cover, you open that them plug in the reader there

I looked up the recalls on the recalls government website and there was an airbag recall. However im thinking it's the seatbelt spill still, but not sure. The check engine light didnt come on until today and the spill happened over a week ago.

is an 05 more likely to have this? or is there an easy way to clear it? mine is an 05 and the SRS warning just came on while driving. nothing extreme, just cruising like 45 mph.

The check engine light and SRS light are not related.

I had a problem last year with SRS lights... It turned out to be "bulletin" from MB where the connectors in the door sills were not staying connected with good contact. MB has a "retrofit" kit to fix it but my mechanic fixed it by hard soldering the wires. Check into this... If it happens enough to put out a bulletin then the timing could seem like it is connected to other things just by coincidence.
