wheel hub

i just changed both outer tie rods and good news is that shut up the popping noises when turning..

but now my mechanic said i need the entire wheel hub assembly for 180

he said they need a press to put the wheel hub onto the car..is this right?

cant i just get the bearing?

The press is to press the new bearing into the existing hub. If the hub is bad, he should be able to show you a scored hub once it is off the car. I have over 225k miles on my car and I have no bearing issues.

With the car on jacks, do you have lateral play on the wheel? That's a sign of bad bearings.

You should only require the bearing unless the hub is damaged.
