A little something about Harley and his C230

I've been posting random things on the forum and lurking around for sometime. I never made any changes to my car besides debadging, flat badge, and painting my calipers. I couldn't afford all the big mods. What inspired me to actually start changing the look of my car, was when I saw harrison1277's car. He used plasti dip to change the look of his car, at only 6 bucks a can. So I decided to make a thread since i've been modding a little more.

Heres my car when I got it when i turned 16, I loved the original look of the car but eventually got bored and began to have an urge to mod.

Here it is with the front badge.

I didnt do much with my car for a long time until about 2 weeks ago i started using plasti dip

Started taking care of the grille and emblem first and worked my way to the mirrors and side markers.

Heres the front

Thats what I finished with but then i had to go to dinner. but right when I got back from dinner, I got right back to work. I was up till 12am and its 22 degrees when I finished.

And the final product

My dad got me a nice Christmas present JVC KW AX840, it boosted my sound quality.

I knew adding a custom intake wouldn't give me many gains but i went ahead and did it. Its still a work in progress

My friend gave me a free 1000watt amplifier because he bought an alpine when he got his his 12' kickers installed. He drives a c43 amg, we plasti dipped his wheels and grille, painted his calipers red btu we should of painted them yellow. I'll take a photoshoot with him sometime soon.

More to come in the future. I want to add dual exhaust and finish the intake. also when I get the money ill buy the cf spoiler from gary if hes still selling it.

You can peel plasti-dip off without issue? I want a part of my rear bumper to be black.

Clean 04.5, though. Looks like it's been well cared for.

If you're going to do that for the intake, try to get a smooth tube. Those crimps are only going slow things down.

Yes, it peels right off. Which means that it will show damage pretty easily. Though once you go black...

:O So much plastidip.
It shouldn't hurt your car's paint that much but just don't do something crazy.
Some guy on the G35 forums plastidip'd his entire car and it peeled off some paint.

Damn looking great imagine if we took a photoshoot together 2 plasti dipped cars hehe

Looking clean man! Glad to help and give ideas, and to ^^^ no it doesnt show damage, plasti dip is durable! I did all mine a while ago and they look as good as day 1!

Id imagine people would not look highly on plasti dip because of the price... lol let em pay more for their professional paint jobs

Keep it up Harley

Thanks Harrison. plasti dip is so cheap and durable for my budget. I've had zero problems with mine, still looking the same as day 1 also

Pewter w203's are the way to go, looking good so far. Do you feel any difference in sound or performance with the intake? I was thinking about doing one like yours my self.

I had plastidipped the middle of my front bumper and rear diffuser for almost 2 years now and it seems durable. But once you peel it there are some residue that feels a bit rough on the paint but it is cleanable. I also plastidipd my cl grill for a good 3 months and when i peeled it, the white residue stained the gloss black part of the grill.

I dont think people look down on plastidip because of the price. I love plastidip because you can get creative with it and peel it off instantly if you mess up. The only thing bad thing about plastidip is how it looks in the sun. Its got a little brown glow and if you look closely you can see the little details of some dried plastidip that didnt even out during the spraying process.

I would prefer black powder coating on rims or grills but parts that are on your car would be cool to plastidip since its removable.

Is it on youtube?

I don't think that many people have shown actual gains of messing with the intakes in our cars.

I just did it because I needed a new air filter and I was board and figured I might as well make a good looking one. I made a new one that wont fall today and that ones going nicely.I mean in all reality it probably doesn't have much of a gain from it. I instantly felt like it had a little more power when I used the tip tonic sifter with it. It also makes a nicer sound when its in high rmps. Ended up costing about the same as putting on a new air filter so no loss came out of it.

Sorry I haven't gotten on recently at all. I'm back though.
My intake would keep falling and hitting the fan, and I would have to put it back up, so I decided to keep the same piping but run it back into the oem setup.

I have some vinyl taillight overlays, I'm putting on tomorrow.

I changed myn up and it doesn't fall any more, zip ties and those metal things that u use on intakes would have fixed the falling off problem, I forget what there called
