Water in Trunk/Possible wire damage?

Hello,

My car has been messing with me lately... sometimes the key doesnt lock it from the distance... sometimes it does...

Today i found out that the right side in my trunk, the cavity right above the tire opposite to the rear fuse box was wet...i washed my car yesterday... do you guys think that can mess with the electronics of the car? Do any wires pass from there?

thanks

Check fuse 8 for corrosion.

See:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...e+locking+tint

Be careful of the Yaw sensor etc getting wet although this has nothing to do with your remote locking. It will effect ESP etc. Dont let the rear SAM get wet either.

Hi,

My Distance Lock stopped working at all... the fuse nr 8 is Ok and there is no water at all near the yaw sensor or the rear sam ... its the other side that gets wet...

anyways can anyone provide a scheme where the antena is? the scheme you uploaded doesnt show how can i get to it ? can i access it myself or it needs a mechanic?

Thanks in advance...

It's a common problem, it's the receivers in the doors; there have been several threads on it.

AFAIK, only solutions are to change the receivers, an expensive proposition, or get the Mods4Cars module, which actually extends the range. Costs about $3-400, but I've been happy with mine for years.

The receivers in the doors are short distance IR receivers.

The Long distance RF is via the rear screen antenna & FM/AM amplifier. There are many threads in this regard.

Yes, The IR short distance receiver seems to work ... its the rear screen antenna that is having problems then...weirdly enough it happens always and only when it rains...

Thanks for the help... i will have that checked out and update the thread...
