HELP, What is that part? It's clicking like crazy when the engine is on.
I heard weird clicking noise (very consistent, like 5 times a second) when the engine is on, popped the hood and found the noise coming from a little thing right next to the ESP module.
When I touch it, I can feel the clicks making it move, like There's a relay inside it ?
It has MOT printed on it, and I have no clue what it is. Is it safe to drive the car?

Purge valve for EECS. They do get noisy when old. Only fix is to replace.

Hey Glyn !
I got a used valve and it arrived today, it looks identical to mine but the gray part at the bottom on my old valve is blue on the new one, everything else is identical
when i tried to plug in the connector, it didn't fit, pinout is the same and everything is the same, but apparently the position of the clip that locks the connector in place is on the side, while my old one is on the centre, when i went back to the seller i noticed it was off a diesel car !
I assumed that it's not compatible with my car, but do you have better knowledge ? online search didn't help me at all...
if it's compatible (diesel/gas engines) then i can just remove the hinge part and use it, if not, i'll ignore the clicking again, kinda got used to it already ,!

Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a new redesigned clip that holds it in place that is supposed to kill the noise? Mine is ABSURDLY loud, like obnoxious to the point I can hear it in the cabin of my car.

I'm not sure if there was an updated version, but looking at the one i got form a newer model, it seems that they changed yeah !, if it's clicking that means it's either time to clean it or replace it, i think it's not really repairable, but spray some cleaner in there and see what happens, i hear mine in the cabin too, so annoying !

I wouldn't replace it unless it stops working. Original parts (that were installed when the car was built) will almost always be better than any replacement part.
Mine is loud too in the beginning but the noise fades away after a good 5-10 minutes.
To those of you who can hear the clicking in the cabin - turn the radio up

And the part I got is also an original part that was salvaged from another benz so it's very good quality!
