C180 Kompressor erratic idling when engine cold

Hi, just joined the forum. I bought a 2006 C180 kompressor Avantgarde 7 months ago and everything went fine till two weeks ago. We had, still have, cold spells in the morning with outside temps of 3 - 5 degrees and the car is parked outside. The idling becomes erratic after about 2 km's, yellow engine icon comes on and engine stalls when I stop. Only when the engine reaches 'operating' temperature ...roughly above 60 degrees the idling becomes smooth even though the icon is still on. Went to merc dealer, replaced a moulded hose(rubber pipe) that runs into the tappet cover, icon dissapeared and the car runs like a dream. Yesterday morning exactly the same happened, idling erratic, icon came on and driving bad. Same this morning. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Hate to go to the MB dealers where you first pay a lot for them to tell you what could possibly be the fault without putting a tool to the car.

Hi,found the problem,I hope. Received advice starting with a faulty alternator to replacing the MAF from 'Merc' garages. All I did was add fuel injector cleaner to a tank petrol and roughly 20km's further the motor suddenly purred perfectly, icon dissappeared and the drive is again fine. Done about 100km's so far and everything's smooth.
