Is it safe to use a battery charger to charge or jump start a dead battery? Car is a 2003 C230K, battery is relatively new but went dead after prolonged storage. Owners manual seems to advise against it, but I have used the charger safely many times on a different vehicle. Advice appreciated.

For the benefit of the 130 people who read my question but didn't have an answer, yes, it is safe. Took about three hours to charge the battery but once it was charged the car started right up and ran well.
