new c320 owner and a sad story...a little long
Hi all,
After searching for a nice c320 4matic for several months I came across an 05 with only 20k miles. One owner, nice color combination and also a good price. I'm in NC and the car is at a dealership in Ohio, so last Thursday drove up to pick it up. get to the dealership Friday morning, pouring rain, went for a quick test drive. Everything seemed fine. Paid and now on my 370 mile drive home. Drove it over the weekend to work, car seems to run fine. Put it on my mid rise lift Monday morning for some cleaning and detailing and realize that both inner cv boots are busted. Long story short it looks as if I'm on my own for this repair. Dealership says they were fine when I left that s#%* happens.
Now I actually have a question. I've switched out axles before on different cars and it doesn't look as though this MB is any different. I'm considering just replacing all four boots and keeping the MB axles that only have 20k miles on them. I've never disassembled an axle before and was wondering if there was any special tools needed to replace the boots.
TIA,
Randy
