2005 C230 Kompressor
Freshly back into the German auto club - 2005 C230 Kompressor 1.8L 4-cyl
Hello everyone,
I am very excited to say I now own a Benz. I purchased today what seems to be a bone stock 2005 C230 1.8L Kompressor 4-cylinder with 112,000 miles. I got a great deal on it at $5,500 as the overall car is 9.5/10 as far as I can tell. The cluster says 4100 miles service overdue or something along those lines so I'll be changing the oil tomorrow (Sunday).
I live in Arizona so any tips on extending the life of the supercharged engine out here in this heat would be greatly appreciated!! I'm thinking about removing the black insulating material attached to the hood underneath for starters to help it keep cooler. I wouldn't mind a little extra engine noise. I purchased some of the new Natural Gas 10W-30 Pennzoil Full-synthetic to put into the oil change. I grabbed a FRAM filter but its not the right size so I'll probably go back and get a Bosch or Mobil1. I'm open to suggestions for oil and filters though.
The car was sitting for the last year so I put a little SeaFoam in the gas. It also seems to need an AC freon recharge (hopefully that's all). They said it was blowing cold before it started sitting. Right now it's blowing hot and the compressor seems to be working (I don't hear any noises and the engine reacts to the added demand when I push the button).
What other service should I give the car at this mileage? For some of the more complicated tasks I would be willing to pay someone near Mesa, AZ who is competent and qualified for help and hands-on education.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan
Wow that is funny. I just bought a 2005 C230K at 113k. And I live in Mesa too.
We need the B Service. Which is mostly just checking for leaks, fluid levels, condition of some components. Do you have the owners manual? Or the maintenance booklet? It will give you an idea of what has been done and what needs to be done. I have been searching for an independent shop to get it fully looked over.
Have you changed your oil already?
Is that oil approved by MB? I don't know how much difference it makes, but there are only a few oils MB recommends we use in our cars.

WRONG OIL the oil you should be using must have the MB229.3 or MB229.5. Stick with the OEM filters made by Mann or Mahle
Oils that don't have that rating you might be risking sludging or foaming or improper viscosity.

There is a sticky on oil https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ments-usa.html
READ THE OWNERS MANUAL
You would only need a 'freon' charger 134A if there is an actual leak in your system as it is a closed loop. If there is no leak and the compressor is good it usually is a receiver drier or expansion valve that needs replacing. RM Euro is the cheapest for those parts as they stock the OEM manufacturer for those
