How screwed am I?
Hey folks
So I have a 2006 c230 sport with 140k on the car. Long story short this past summer some ******* threw a large dunkin donuts coffee, cream, sugar and all over my dash. I cleaned it up ASAP and was able to get the smell out and everything still seemed to work fine. Fast forward to present day where the weather is getting colder and I need heat, lo and behold the heat is only working on the pass. Side. The cold air works fine on both sides it's just the heat. When I put the driver side on 80, it stops blowing air. So because the coffee ran down the radio and hvac controls I thought maybe it was a bad hvac control unit. So I tried replacing it and no effect. So I removed the driver side lower panel and there is traces of coffee everywhere. Also when removing the panel I noticed the wire going to the defrost stepper motor was loose and fell out of the plug so now things are even worse!!! I'm at wits end and thinking its time to go to the dealer to get this sorted out cause I can't drive this winter without defrost especially on the driver side. Is this going to cost a fortune like I fear? Is there anything I can do? How screwed am I!?

Defroster would only work and blow warm on the pass side until that loose wire on the driver side stepper motor pulled out of the plug. Ya this is pretty much soul crushing. People are just the worse

Why can't you reconnect the defroster wire?

This will be pricey but I don't see a way around taking it in ... Too bad you spend money on hvac already

just attach an extesion wire to the cut wire and hack into the plug and solder it. Once all connecetd and tested out, just dip it in plastic glue or some thing. Once covered and working properly you will not even know that it happened. It is not a part that comes under constant stress and movement.
