Radio Stuck in phone
Hi there,
I'm new to this site and have my first question! My Mercedes radio has been stuck in the phone mode for quite some time now and won't allow me to change. What can I do to fix it and allow me to actually listen to my CD's again! Thanks! (Please help fast!!)

This may sound silly, but maybe pull the fuse for the radio out and start the car, then turn it off and replace the fuse? Idk for sure how the electrical system works in the MB cars, but in my old car it would reset the radio if there was ever an issue.
Alternatively, a battery pull may also reset the radio/phone system. But again, ties in with my above statement on how the electrical works in these cars.
Worth a shot.

Yeah, maybe disconnect the battery and reconnect after 20 minutes.

CLEAN YOUR IGNITION SWITCH WITH CONTACT CLEANER
I solved 2 different issues by spraying Electrical Contact Cleaner into the ignition switch on my 1994 E320 Wagon. First issue was car would not start when in Park (I was turning the key to on position, moving gear shift level to Neutral to start the car). The second issue was the radio changing itself to Phone mode over and over again - it was very annoying. A couple of years ago a Mechanic told me that dirt in the ignition switch causes weird problems - it seems he was right! I bought WD40 Contact Cleaner (Amazon sells it), I've used other spray contact cleaners in the past, just get one that does not leave oil or residue. I had to apply it 3 times before the radio issue was resolved - it got less frequent with each cleaning. Just push the little red tube into the key slot and spray until the ignition switch is soaked.
Another tip for Mercedes owners - if your muffler is sagging down you can purchase and install new rubber muffler supports. The new parts I purchased on-line were stretching and I was afraid they might brake and my muffler would be dragging... So, I bought two Stainless Steel hose clamps from AutoZone and installed them over the top of the rubber muffler supports - works great! No rattle and no muffler sag.
Have a good day.
