Mirror glare?

Mirror glare?
So yeah, totally a newb question but I notice sometimes the side and rear view mirrors turn blue when headlights hit them at night, I know it's to help with the glare but other than that I can't find any info on them.
Can someone explain how they work exactly? Because sometimes they don't seem to work properly. One side may be responding and turning blue but the other side stays white and blinds the hell out of me.
It's a great feature because I'm sensitive to light and I'd like to see if I can troubleshoot them and get them to work consistently.

IIRC, only the drivers side and the rear view mirror auto dim, but someone else might be able to chime in better. Alternatively, if one doesn't dim as much, it may not feel that it is receiving enough of a light to dim.

Afaik in the US only the driver's side is autodimming.
Also, the degree of dimming is controlled by the sensors in the interior rear-view mirror. If you look closely, you can see the photo-element in the mirror surface, and one on the back side.
The circuit compares the amount of light from the front vs the rear and dims if there's more light coming from rear.
Offtop, but if the cars behind are blinding you, your mirrors might not be adjusted correctly.

That is everything I needed to know!
I cannot thank you enough!
Funny, some members have posted on similar threads, I found during my preliminary search; that seemed to be sarcastic and stupid.
Such as " auto dimming fluid" lol
And in order to enable ''automatic headlamp mode" first, warm the engine to normal temp.... pop the hood and locate the throttle body pipe behind the MAF meter and finally, get a good grip on it with your bare hand. The headlights will now be in auto mode. The correct answer was to browse through the steering wheel Command system menu. They were being sarcastic. Lmao!
