Check Enginge light after Service..
Hi, i am new to Mbworld and bought my first mercedes 2 weeks ago!
I am sorry if my english is bad because english isn't my first language.
I now own a w203(c200, 2002 mod.) and it just got back from repair after some idiot crashed in it while my car was parked. Needed to paint the bumper
Anyway, they also changed my head unit. It seems like they did some pretty bad work because they didn't screw half of the screws back in..
But my main problem is that after my car was on repair, the check engine light is on and i dont know why..
Can it be that they use the power from the cigarettplug and thats why it's glowing?
I appriciate all help i can get, bit upset that ive had the problems after only 2 week..

The check engine light can come up for a number of reasons. Chances are it will not be because of something plugged into your lighter socket. The best thing to do is to take it a to a Mercedes mechanic and slip him $10-20 so he can use his "Star DAS" to find out the culprit of your check engine light. It will be hard for fellow members to guess or presume the reason for the light. However, if you can maybe explain some of the "odd" things your car is doing after the accident or check engine light came on maybe someone here can help.

My Check Engine light always comes on after routine service at the dealership, usually requires an additional $200 - $1000 to correct some sketchy "code". I fell for it twice. The third time I just said no. Despite dire warnings of additional damage and failed emissions testing, the light went out two weeks later and the car ran fine and passed inspection with no problems over the next three years. MB USA says there's nothing they can do as dealers are independent businesses. They are absolutely killing the brand.

Out Of Control!!
Whatever country you're in (filling out your location would help), try to go to an auto parts store and either see if they will read your code(s) for you for free, or buy a code reader, which you should have anyway, really.
Then come back here and update this thread with whatever codes you have, then people would be able to help you out.
